Bayo burns bridges |
![]() |
Torquay
United chairman, Mike Bateson, has lost patience with ex-Rovers striker
Adebayo Akinfenwa, who has turned down Torquay's latest contract offer.
Akinfenwa had been due to meet with Gulls bosses today to discuss his
new deal at Plainmoor, but his agent rang boss Leroy Rosenior over the
weekend to say that the player will not now travel to the meeting. Bateson
said: "There's
a limit to the amount of messing about we will tolerate. Having burned
his bridges for a second time I cannot now see any circumstances in which
he will return to Torquay. To say Leroy is angry is an understatement,
especially after Akinfenwa phoned on Thursday to say he would be down
to finalise the contract. I cannot begin to imagine what they are playing
at and Leroy has reached the stage where he no longer sees any merit in
having him in the squad." |
