Penney now concedes play-offs unlikely

In an interview with the Yorkshire Post, Dave Penney has conceded that his side are now unlikely to make the top six by the end of the season following Saturday's goalless draw against fellow-promotion hopefuls Brentford. Penney commented: "We really needed to win this one to keep some pressure on the play-offs but that looks out of the question now. I think people have to realise that 18 months ago we were playing the likes of Forest Green and Leigh RMI and the other week we were disappointed not to get something from Hillsborough in front of nearly 29,000. I noticed one fan wrote in the club magazine that he had been a Rovers supporter for 55 years and had never seen us win anything – I don't know where he's been for the last two years."

Rovers launch new kit

Doncaster Rovers are to launch their new kit for next season at a promotional evening at the Dome on Thursday, 21st April. The evening is being held to promote season tickets for next season. We will give you further details as they become available.
Rovers are also holding a "questions and answers" session at the Viking Sports Bar on Thursday (this week). However, despite this event not being announced prior to last Saturday, it seems that the event is a sell-out.

MOTM results

James Coppinger was the clear winner in your vote for the "Man of the match" for Saturday's home game against Brentford. With a surprising number of players receiving nominations, he came well ahead of John Doolan in second place, with no others being in realistic contention. As always, we would like to thank everyone who took the trouble to take part.
The leading votes were cast as follows:
1 James Coppinger (39.34%)
2 John Doolan (21.31%)
3 Tim Ryan (8.20%)

So who is the target?

Despite Rovers' chairman John Ryan revealing in his programme notes that the club had a bid in for a League One striker, and also monitoring a striker with a Championship club, boss Dave Penney was his usual coy self yesterday as he refused to reveal who the targets are. Penney said: "It's good to have a bit of speculation but the supporters will only get disappointed if it doesn't happen. If you name names other clubs might come in and try to get them. When we've got someone and they've done their medical and it's all sorted we'll let you know."
All we know is that it is NOT Andy Kirk, Pawel Abbott or Luke Beckett, as Ryan specifically mentioned that they are not the targets.

Penney: play-offs are out of reach

Following Saturday's goalless draw, Dave Penney has conceded that the play-off places are likely to be out of reach for his side. Rovers remain six points off sixth place, but with games running out, the chances of them making up the deficit fall as each game is played. However, we still think that indifferent form by many other candidates for the play-off places means that the chances remain reasonable at the moment. After Saturday's game, Dave Penney said:"A draw was not really good enough for us and the play-offs now look out of the question. It's disappointing for all of us but we have to remember we were in the Conference not long ago and we've come a long way in the last couple of years. We tried to get the ball down and pass and we produced some intricate play around the penalty box but the conditions were difficult and it was not really a game of football."

Barney scores again!

Paul Barnes continued his goal-scoring form of late by scoring Hinckley United's second goal of the game as they won 2-1 at Vauxhall Motors on Saturday in the Conference North. The win keeps Hinckley in touch with the play-off places in eighth place.
In League Two, Chris Beardsley scored again as Kidderminster Harriers picked up a valuable 3-1 win at Notts County, although the win still leaves them in next to bottom place in the table. Also in League Two, ex-Rover Ben Futcher put Lincoln City ahead at Southend with just three minutes to go - but a last minute penalty for the home side meant the game ended in a 1-1- draw.
Finally, congratulations go to ex-Rover Dean Barrick and his valiant Hucknall Town side. They travelled to Hereford United on Saturday in the quarter finals of the FA Trophy, and came away with a 2-2 draw after twice having to come back from being a goal down.
The replay is tomorrow night at Watnall Road, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Burnley 4 Youth Team 0

The Rovers' youth team finally bowed out of the Football League Youth Alliance Cup at the quarter-final stage on Saturday, when they lost by a 4-0 scoreline at Burnley.

March 12, 2005

Rovers 0 Brentford 0

A goalless draw was played out at Belle Vue this afternoon, with neither side doing enough to deserve a victory, with shots on goal being at a premium. Rovers had Lewis Guy making his first start in Rovers colours, but despite his endeavour, failed to seriously trouble the visitors' defence. A strong wind in Brentford's favour in the first half caused the Rovers defence some problems, but Rovers failed to turn it to their advantage after the break. With other results meaning that Rovers could have moved up to seventh had they won, this must be regarded as perhaps the day that the chances of Rovers qualifying for the play-offs diminished further. Whilst they are still six points from sixth place, the games are starting to run out, although haphazard form by all the contenders means anything may be possible.
The "Man of the Match" voting is now closed. Thanks go to everyone who took part. The results will be published here on Tuesday morning.

Quailey stays for season

Former Doncaster Rovers striker Brian Quailey, currently on loan from Stevenage Borough to Nuneaton Borough, has signed for Nuneaton on a full transfer, with his contract running until the end of the season. The move marks Brian's third move to Nuneaton, he started his career there before his big chance at West Bromwich Albion, his second spell at the club coming under ex-Rovers assistant boss Alan Lewer around a year ago. Quailey played two games for Rovers whilst on loan at Belle Vue in the 2002/03 season.

Coin trail

The VSC's "Coin Trail" had a good week, with excellent receipts meaning that their new total is just short of the £30,000 mark, which is a superb effort. On top of the £952 raised at the race night at Skellow Grange WMC, they raised a further £445.61 yesterday afternoon, making the new total £29,897.77.

Rovers team news

Doncaster Rovers have a virtually full squad to select from for this afternoon's home game against fellow play-off hopefuls Brentford. Definitely out are Simon Marples and Jamie Price, who are both recovering from injury.
Striker Lewis Guy is set to make his Belle Vue debut this afternoon, although he may well have to settle for a place on the bench, despite scoring twice for the reserves in midweek. Paul Green is being rested for the game, after looking jaded in recent weeks, and also suffering from a tight hamstring.
Neil Roberts is definitely fit to play despite receiving a head wound that required stitches at Hillsborough.
It will be interesting to see if Leo Fortune-West is included in the squad. The experienced striker came through his first match in the reserves on Wednesday, playing 85 minutes of the game, without any ill effects.
Rovers still see the play-off places as being within reach, so please get behind the team this afternoon - with other fixtures in League One today, Rovers could well gain on a few teams in the top eight if they can pick up the three points.

March 12, 2005

Brentford team news

With games in hand, Brentford must fancy their chances of reaching the play-offs, although a fixture backlog in the latter part of the season is not always a desirable thing. Their home form is currently keeping their promotion hopes alive, with only four wins on the road so far this season.
Brentford will give Chris Hargreaves a late fitness test after being troubled with a calf injury, but Alex Rhodes will be missing with a cruciate ligament injury. Also missing with injuries will be ex-Rover Jamie Lawrence and Scott Fitzgerald.

Skellow event boosts Coin Trail

The VSC's "Coin Trail" received a big boost on Thursday night thanks to a Race Night held at the Skellow Grange WMC. The event raised a superb £952, which means that the VSC are hoping that they can break through the £30,000 barrier at today's match.
Thanks go to everyone who was involved organising the event, and to everyone who attended and contributed so generously.

Barrick in cup glory bid

Former Rovers left back Dean Barrick, currently player/manager at Hucknall Town, is plotting the downfall of Conference giants Hereford United this afternoon as both sides meet it the quarter finals of the FA Trophy at Edgar Street. Barrick has led a remarkable revival which saw ex-Rover Ernie Moss fired as boss earlier in the season due to a disappointing start to the season, with his side also handily placed to qualify for promotion from the Conference North via the play-offs, with games in hand on their rivals.
Barrick said: "It is a really big game and one we are really looking forward to. We couldn't have picked a tougher match but we would dearly love to get through. Now we have got to the quarter-finals, we have to go for it. I will be telling the players not to let the occasion pass them by. They should enjoy it but they will enjoy it a lot more if they work their socks off. We are not going to Hereford to get beat or to make up the numbers. Hereford will have to play well to beat us. They are quite capable of doing that but we are not going there to roll over. We will give it everything we've got to get a result."

March 11, 2005

Beech joins Carlisle

New emerged yesterday afternoon that Rovers defender Chris Beech left the club yesterday "by mutual consent". Beech has only made one first team start this season.
Carlisle United's official web site has reported that Beech is set to sign for them this afternoon (Friday), and will make his debut in their home game against Accrington Stanley this weekend.
We would like to thank Chris for his efforts whilst with Rovers, and wish him all the best for his future career.

March 11, 2005

Warrington happy with form

Rovers goalkeeper Andy Warrington has expressed his happiness with the recent good form of both him, and his fellow defenders, which have seen Rovers remain within touching distance of the play-off positions. The defeat last Sunday appeared to have dashed Rovers' hopes, but midweek results see Rovers still just six points behind sixth place. Warrington said: "It's been great but it's not just me, as a unit from attackers to defenders we have performed well and I think we are capable of pushing for the play-off position, but of course we are taking each game one by one."

March 11, 2005

Newell extends Hatters stay

Former Doncaster Rovers striker Mike Newell has signed a two-year extension to his contract as manager at Luton Town, after guiding the club to the brink of promotion. His new deal keeps him at Kenilworth Road until June 2007.

March 10, 2005

Darlington 1 Reserves 3

Rovers overcame a strong Darlington reserve string yesterday afternoon at the Reynolds Stadium, aided by another brace of goals from new signing Lewis Guy. Jermaine McSporran got the third Rovers goal in the second half.
More importantly, striker Leo Fortune-West played all but five minutes of the game - his first taste of action after a long absence owing to knee surgery. Whilst it may be a bit early for his return to first team action, the fact that he played so much of the game does suggest that he may return over the Easter period.

Belles striker hits England winner

The Doncaster Rovers Belles may be having a bad season, being involved in the relegation battle from the Women's National Division, but striker Vicky Exley scored two goals for England this week in their 4-0 victory over Northern Ireland in the Algarve Cup.
Rovers Belles are out of the relegation places on goal difference at the moment, although they do have games in hand on their relegation rivals, Liverpool and Bristol City. Liverpool have to rely on winning their remaining match, and hoping that Belles lose all their outstanding games. Bristol City are level with Doncaster on points, with only a two goal inferior goal difference. Belles have three matches left, Bristol have now finished their fixtures, and Liverpool have one game remaining.

March 10, 2005

Rovers v Bradford City

The rearranged home game against Bradford City on Thursday, 24th March, will not be an all-ticket game. However, tickets for the main stand seating will go on sale shortly. The match is a "Category A" match, meaning that admission prices will be:

March 9, 2005

Roberts fit for Saturday

Rovers manager Dave Penney received a boost yesterday after finding that Neil Roberts' head injury is not serious, and will definitely be fit to play against Brentford on Saturday. Roberts had to leave the field on Saturday to have some stitches in a head wound, thus giving young Lewis Guy the opportunity for his debut. Penney said: "Roberts had to have some stitches in his head, and we missed his physical presence when he went off. Fortunately, he is stitched up now and he will be okay for Saturday."

March 9, 2005

Doolan wins

John Doolan emerged as your "Man of the Match" from Sunday's game at Hillsborough after a superb midfield display against Sheffield Wednesday. John gained over a third of all votes cast, well ahead of James Coppinger, who finished in second place, narrowly ahead of Neil Roberts. With eight players receiving nominations, the leading votes were cast as follows:
1 John Doolan (41.57%)
2 James Coppinger (14.61%)
3 Neil Roberts (11.24%)
4 Michael McIndoe (8.99%)
Thank you to everyone who took part in the voting. The next vote will open on Saturday evening following the home game against Brentford.

March 9, 2005

Around the goals

With a number of midweek games this week former Rovers midfielder Martin Foster got Halifax on the way to a 3-0 win at Gravesend & Northfleet in the Nationwide Conference, which lifts them into second place, although still 13 points behind leaders Barnet. Barnet need 18 points from their remaining nine games to be assured of automatic promotion back to the Football League, and even then, Halifax or Woking would have to win all their remaining games.
In the Conference North, Paul Barnes scored Hinckley United's first goal as they defeated Ashton United 3-1 to lift them into ninth place on the table.
As most Rovers fans will have noticed, Bournemouth were defeated 3-2 at home by Blackpool last night, which means that Rovers' ambitions of reaching the play-off positions remains a possibility.

March 9, 2005

Blackpool ticket news

Tickets for the away game at Blackpool on 19th March go on general sale this morning, after being restricted to season ticket holders for the last couple of days. Rovers have an allocation fo 1,867 tickets which are in uncovered seating.
Admission prices are: Adults £14.00, Concessions £10.00, Under-18's £7.00.
Blackpool have advised that all supporters should be aware that the uncovered East Stand seats are open to the weather. Tickets will not be sold to any customer until they confirm and accept that they understand this.

March 8, 2005

Rovers "bullied" by Owls

Dave Penney reflected on Sunday's match at Hillsborough, saying: "We did well in the first half but they bullied us in the second half. We didn't have enough physical presence. In the first half we got it down and passed it and we got in behind them, but we didn't really create much. It was disappointing to concede right on half-time. If we'd have gone in at 0-0 we'd have kept the crowd quiet.
Penney did say that new signing Lewis Guy was unlucky not to score from close range on his debut, being denied by a save from the Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper.

March 8, 2005

Redfearn in Oakwell return?

Former Rovers midfielder Neil Redfearn, currently player/coach at Scarborough, is being linked with a return to Barnsley at the end of the season, following the departure of Paul Hart from the Oakwell hotseat last week. Andy Ritchie has been given the job until the end of the season, but Redfearn said at the weekend: "Despite playing for a few teams they are always the first result I look for. I do not know what is going to happen and it would be unfair to comment."

March 8, 2005

Disabled fans meeting

There will be a meeting of the Disabled Supporters Club branch in the Viking Supporters' Bar at Belle Vue on Saturday, 12th March, with a 12 noon start. All disabled fans and their helpers are welcome to attend.
There will be a discussion on the set-up of a new committee, which is up for re-election in May. Anyone nominated, or wishing to vote in this vote must be a member of the Supporters Club (and be disabled or a carer). The meeting will also hold a vote for the "player of the season" - again, you must be a member to take part.

March 6, 2005

Sheffield Wednesday 2 Rovers 0

Rovers undeservedly went behind to an injury-time goal just before the break after dominating the first half at Hillsborough this afternoon. Rovers ought to have gone in front during the first half, with the home keeper having to pull off a couple of very good saves. Whilst having the majority of the possession after the break, Rovers never got the chance to land enough shots on target, and once the secodn goal went in twelve minutes from time, never really looked like getting back into the game. Both goals, not for the first time this season, came from a cross in from the dead ball line that was headed home relatively unchallenged.
The "Man of the Match" voting is now closed. Thank you to everyone who voted. We will let you know what the results are on Wednesday morning.

March 7, 2005

Youth Team 2 York City 0

The Rovers' youth team won their first Merit League match on Saturday morning as they registered a 2-0 home victory over York City, with the Rovers goals being scroed by Aaron Brittain and Jason Flint.
The Rovers team for the game was: Lee Cockerham, Michael Senior, Tommy Brailsford, Andy Matthews, Adam Green, Robert Pacey, Adam Brown, Liam Green, Adam Lee, Aaron Brittain, Danny Maudslay
Substitutes: Jason Flint (for Brittain, 75), Alex Wilson, Liam Nelthorpe, Mark Penney

March 7, 2005

Petition to oust Turnbull?

A group of Barrow fans have launched a petition to urge the club's board not to renew the contract of ex-Rover Lee Turnbull as manager when it expires at the end of this season. In an injury-hit season, Barrow have struggled this season, and whilst they appear to be safe from relegation from the Nationwide North, their final league position will be the lowest since their relegation from the Conference National.
The petition raised around 100 signatures from a crowd of 604 in their match against Bradford Park Avenue last week.
Turnbull, who said he was “delighted” with the three points on Tuesday, said of the petition: “Until those particular supporters are directors of Barrow Football Club, I don’t think it’s worth the paper it’s written on.”

March 6, 2005

Rovers team news

Doncaster Rovers look set to name a virtually unchanged squad for this afternoon's game at Sheffield Wednesday. New signing Lewis Guy is expected to be on the bench this afternoon, with John Doolan, Steve Foster and Ricky Ravenhill all training yesterday and declared fit for the match.
Stuart Jones, Leo Fortune-West and Simon Marples all continue absences due to injury, although Jones is expected to return shortly after resuming training. Central defender Mark Albrighton is doubtful after missing the last few games with a knee injury.
The referee for this afternoon's game will be Martin Atkinson, who refereed the Rovers match at Oakwell earlier in the season.

March 6, 2005

Owls team news

Sheffield Wednesday have injury concerns ahead of this afternoon's game, with boss Paul Sturrock waiting on fitness tests on three players, although he has refused to name them. He is hoping to name an unchanged side from that which drew at Brentford last week. He will definitely be without Paul O'Brien, who returned to Bolton Wanderers last week after completing his loan spell.
Yesterday, Sturrock was still hoping to get a player in on loan to boost their promotion chances - he said: "I'm trying to get one in for tomorrow but it doesn't seem to have happened," he explains. "We have to strengthen before deadline day. It is a must because I'm not prepared to sit here at the end of season, turn to everyone and say I might have made a mistake in not having enough personnel. We will add (to the squad) but that's a difficult job as well."

March 6, 2005

Sheffield Wednesday v Rovers

Both clubs have urged their supporters to arrive at the ground early for this afternoon's match. With public transport only providing a Sunday service, and a large contingent of almost 6,000 expected to travel from Doncaster, much congestion is expected around Hillsborough.
Please check the various notices issued yesterday concerning travel - the match is all ticket, with no tickets being available for the Rovers end.

March 6, 2005

Around the goals

We begin our review of former Rovers player scoring goals in Scotland for a change. In the Scottish League Division One, Colin Cramb scored one of Hamilton's two goals as they won 2-0 at St Johnstone, which moves them up to four points ahead of second-bottom Partick Thistle.
Back in England, Adebayo Akinfenwa scored one of Torquay's two goals in a 2-2 home draw with Chesterfield. In League Two, Kevin Sandwith scored for Lincoln City as his side went down to a 3-2 home defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.
The Conference National saw Martin Foster score Halifax Town's first goal in their 2-1 away win at promotion candidates Crawley Town, and Jon Maloney scored his second goal of the week for York City, although they still went down 2-1 at home to Exeter City.

Popular Stand wins prize

The Rovers fanzine, "Popular STAND" was awarded the runners-up prize in this year's EMAP "Fanzine of the Year" award, and won a prize of £250. This is a great achievement, as the winners from Middlesbrough, have a big budget and a full-time editor!
The judges commented that Popular STAND was: "Full of passion for the club in question, and included hilarious features like a football bingo card and a sarcastic sing-a-long song."
Congratulations go to Nathan Batchelor and his team - long may their success continue!

After police have instructed that all Supporters Club coaches should not arrive at junction 33 of the M1 before 12.30 on Sunday, the Supporters Club have revised all departure times. Please note that it is likely that the coaches will not depart from Belle Vue until about 11.50am, so that they do not arrive at the M1 junction too early.
Revised departure times are:

Belle Vue 11.30am
All coaches are now fully booked - if you have a place booked on the coach, please be there in plenty of time, due to the large number of supporters involved.

The Viking Sports Bar will be open for the sale of soft drinks from 10.30am on Sunday morning.

Reserves 2 York City 0

Lewis Guy scored both Rovers goals in Wednesday afternoon's reserve team game, with his opening goal for the club coming in just the second minute as he slid the ball past a one-on-one with the York goalkeeper. His second goal came two minutes from the end in almost a carbon copy of his first goal.
The Rovers side on Wednesday was: Lee Cockerham, Jermaine McSporran, Mark Albrighton, Nic Priet, Chris Beech, Tore Hansen, Ricky Ravenhill, Adriano Rigoglioso, Blake Norton, Ben Jackson, Lewis Guy
Substitutes: Adam Brown (for Ravenhill, 41), Craig Nelthorpe (for Albrighton, 61), Andy Matthews (for Jackson, 87), Rob Pacey, Adam Green

March 4, 2005

Guy signs for Rovers

Following an impressive performance in the reserve team game, and in training earlier in the week, Rovers have handed young striker Lewis Guy a contract until the end of the 2005/06 season. The 19-year old striker has been on trial at Rovers for the last week after being released from his contract at Newcastle United.

March 4, 2005

Police notice

The following notice in releation to Rovers' away game at Hillsborough on Sunday has appeared on South Yorkshire Police's web site:
Police advice to Rovers fans for Sheffield Wednesday match
Doncaster Rovers fans are reminded that the South Yorkshire derby fixture at Sheffield Wednesday this Sunday, 6 March, is an ALL TICKET match for away supporters.
Rovers fans are also advised that all tickets for matches at Hillsborough are sold with reserved seating and supporters must sit in the seat they have been allocated. Due to the large anticipated away following, this policy will be strictly enforced by South Yorkshire Police to enable all Doncaster fans to gain admission to the game. Supporters who do not comply with this ground regulation may be ejected from the stadium.
Turnstiles for the fixture will be open from 12.30pm. Visiting fans are urged to allow sufficient time for their journey to enable them to enter the ground by 1.45pm to avoid congestion at the turnstiles. Kick-off is at 2pm.
After the match, in the interests of safety, Doncaster Rovers supporters will be asked to remain seated for a 5-10 minute period after the final whistle. This will give the police adequate time to clear the Leppings Lane exit area of home supporters and help all fans to get home safely.
Adherence to the above advice will assist Sheffield Wednesday and South Yorkshire Police in helping supporters from both clubs to enjoy Sunday's game.

March 4, 2005

Cullen moves on

Former Doncaster Rovers player Jon Cullen has been transferred from Northern League side Washintgon Nissan to Spennymoor United, thereby making a return to the club after a two year break. March 3, 2005

Viking Bar - revised arrangements

After discussions with South Yorkshire Police, it has been decided that alcoholic drinks will NOT be on sale on Sunday in the Viking Bar. The bar will, however, be open from 10.30 for shelter and soft drinks as advertised previously.
Coaches will NOT be leaving at 11.30, as we have been instructed to arrive at M1 Junction 33 no earlier than 12.30. Coaches will therefore now leave at about 11.50.
Police have advised that they will be searching all coaches for alcohol and signs of anyone having been drinking, and will turn any coaches back where either are found.

March 3, 2005

Maloney the goal hero

Jon Maloney, who celebrates his 20th birthday today, celebrated the extension of his loan at York City for a third month in style on Tuesday evening by scoring York's winner against Conference leaders Barnet. The winner came as Maloney's shot was initially parried by Barnet's keeper, with Maloney sliding the ball home from the resulting corner.

March 3, 2005

Pemberton to Celtic

Former Rovers striker Martin Pemberton has signed for UniBond League club Farsley Celtic from Stockport County. A series of injuries have restricted Pemberton's first team appearances this season - with last season also being hit by injuries. A loan spell at Rochdale failed to improve his fortunes, and despite the fact that he is under contract with Stockport until June, he has now been released. He made 32 appearances for Rovers between 1996 and 1998.

March 3, 2005

Belles cup final

Despite having a greatly disappointing season so far in the league, the Doncaster Rovers Belles have reached the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Women's Challenge Cup Final. The final takes place at Stocksbridge Park Steels' ground at Bracken Moor at 2pm on Sunday, 20th March.
Rovers Belles have won this competition for the past two years.

March 2, 2005

Flitney returns

Rovers' Club Call have reported that goalkeeper Ross Flitney has returned to Fulham. In an interview to ClubCall, Dave Penney said that Flitney was offered another month on loan, but the young keeper turned down the offer, as he wanted a contract until the end of the season.
Penney said: "We hadn't made a decision so we offered him another month but he's opted to go back to Fulham...at this moment in time we didn't feel he'd done enough for us to give him a contract for this season or next season."
Flitney is expected to be available on a free at the end of the season and could still return to Rovers if he fails to find another club.
ClubCall is available at 30p per minute on 0904 064 1003.

March 2, 2005

Guy set for debut

Rovers are to give former Newcastle United striker Lewis Guy his debut this afternoon in the reserve team fixture against York City. The England under-20 international has impressed boss Dave Penney, and may win a contract at Belle Vue if he does well enough in his fortnight's trial period with the club. Penney confirmed that they have been tracking the player for a considerable time, having watched Guy several times for Newcastle's reserves.

March 2, 2005

Reserves v York

As reported above, striker Lewis Guy will make his Rovers debut this afternoon in the Pontins League reserve team fixture at home to York City. The match at Belle Vue will begin at 2pm. For anyone who is parking at Belle Vue, please park well away from the Main Stand, as the Doncaster Dragons have a home match later in the afternoon.

March 2, 2005

Ticket news for Sunday

Please remember that there will be no tickets for the away end at Hillsborough on sale on Sunday. Rovers have sold almost 5,000 tickets for the game, and are now selling tickets for the lower part of the West Stand (Leppings Lane), with the upper part of the stand now being sold out.
The Rovers ticket office is opening until 7pm on Thursday - otherwise, it is usually open between 10am and 4pm on weekdays. It will also open between 10am and noon on Saturday.
With a large travelling support, please arrive at the game early, as there is likely to be heavy congestion around the stadium.

March 1, 2005

Roberts is your winner

A superb performance in Saturday's home game against Swindon Town by striker Neil Roberts was duly recognised by supporters taking part in our "Man of the Match" vote, as he became the clear winner. There were only ever two realistic contenders to win the vote, but second-placed James Coppinger eventually fell behind to trail Roberts by almost 20%.
With seven different Rovers players receiving nominations, the leading votes were cast as follows:
1 Neil Roberts (48.15%)
