Foster update

We are glad to report that, following an X-Ray following the Lincoln City game, results show that Rovers skipper has not suffered a broken ankle, which was initially feared on Tuesday evening. Steve went for some further MRI scans yesterday afternoon which will show the extent of the damage, although Rovers still expect that he will be out of action for a while.
Tim Ryan has returned to full training, and there is a chance that he could be included in the squad for Saturday's home game against Wrexham, but Gregg Blundell will miss the game, although he has been initially pencilled in for the next reserve team game.

Sarge heads the poll

The man of the match for the away match at Lincoln City on Tuesday understandably attracted a lower number of votes due to the low crowd - but thank you very much to everyone who voted. The outcome certainly showed that everyone was impressed with the two youngsters, Chris Beardsley and Ben Jackson, who combined well to score the Rovers winner towards the end of the game. However, those votes weren't quite enough for either to win - with seven players receiving nominations, the leading votes were cast as follows:
1 Mark Albrighton (26.31%)
2 Ben Jackson (22.43%)
3 Chris Beardsley (15.79%)
3 Ricky Ravenhill (15.79%)
The next poll will open on Saturday evening following the home match against Wrexham.

Cornforth the boss

Former Rovers midfielder John Cornforth has been appointed as manager of Nationwide South club Newport County, following the departure of Peter Nicholas, who was sacked after eight games of the season. He said: "I’m a very ambitious manager and I know I have come to the right place. There’s quality here, it just needs a bit of tweaking. I need to stamp my authority on it and I have already been on the phone to experienced players within the budget." John played seven games for Rovers in the 1986/87 season whilst on loan from Sunderland.

Crichton leaves Stafford

Goalkeeper Paul Crichton has left Stafford Rangers after making two appearances for the club, and is looking for a club nearer to his home in Norwich. He is still waiting for an outcome to his dispute with Nationwide Conference side York City, who terminated his week-to-week contract recently after a verbal dispute between Crichton and a small number of York supporters.

Lincoln City 0 Rovers 1

Doncaster Rovers edged into the second round of the LDV Vans Trophy at a wet Sincil Bank this evening, with Chris Beardsley scoring his first goal in a competitive match for the club. The victory was marred somewhat by the serious injury to skipper Steve Foster, with early fears being that he has broken his leg.

September 29, 2004

Foster injury worry

Rovers are awaiting the verdict of Steve Foster's injury after he was carried off during the second half of last night's LDV Vans Trophy match at Lincoln City. He was taken to hospital following the game for an X-ray, with an early suspicion that he has broken his leg.

September 29, 2004

New bar delay

The new Viking Bar, which was expected to be open for Saturday's game against Wrexham, will not now be open until the Torquay match on 16th October. Whilst we understand that the bar is completed, there has been insufficient time for it to be inspected to enable a licence to be granted, and Magistrates decided at a hearing yesterday that an occasional licence cannot be granted as it may prejudice a full licence application which will be heard next week.

September 29, 2004

Jones return delayed

Former Rovers striker Graeme Jones is still not ready for a return to action after picking up a calf injury that is proving difficult to resolve. Jones, who announced in the summer that he was giving up football to take up a teaching post in the north-east, has signed for Bury, and has made only three appearances this season before picking up the injury.

September 28, 2004

Andy wins the vote

With an understandably reduced number of votes being received for the "Man of the Match" against Bournemouth, Andy Warrington emerged as the clear winner, winning over a third of the vote. The remainder of the votes were spread amongst many other players, with the top votes going as follows:
1 Andy Warrington (35.48%)
2 John Doolan (12.90%)
3 Michael McIndoe (9.68%)
Thank you to everyone who took the time and trouble to vote - the next vote opens this evening following the conclusion of the away game in the LDV Vans Trophy against Lincoln City.

Grimsby Town 1 Youth Team 4

Young striker Ben Jackson scored another two goals in his remarkable start to the season on Saturday as Rovers' youth side went on to win 4-1 at Grimsby Town.

Lincoln v Rovers team news

Dave Penney will wait for the outcome of a fitness test on defender Nicolas Priet before making a decision on the side which will face Lincoln City this evening in the first round of the LDV Vans Trophy. Priet picked up a calf injury in the first minute at Bournemouth, which, as well as directly leading to Rovers conceding two goals in the first five minutes, forced his substitution just twenty minutes into the game. Penney looks set to call young strikers Chris Beardsley and Ben Jackson into his squad, but will definitely be without Gregg Blundell, Tim Ryan, Simon Marples and Dave Morley due to injury. Mark Wilson, who has looked sharp in training whilst on loan from Middlesbrough, may well get a start this evening, as Rovers try to freshen things up
Lincoln will be without Marcus Richardson, who begins a three match suspension, but striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher should keep his place after successfully coming through his first match back after injury.
Please note that there are major delays at roadworks in Saxilby on the A57, so you should either find an alternative route, or leave yourself extra time for the journey.

McCarthy heads Vics academy

Former Rovers midfielder Jon McCarthy, who joined Nationwide Conference side Northwich Victoria in the summer, has been appointed as head of Northwich's academy - but he will keep on playing first team football.
Meanwhile, the Vics are set to become the first club to be deducted ten points by the Conference after going into administration a couple of weeks ago. Northwich have not lodged an appeal to the deduction, which will leave the club. who have not yet won a match this season, marooned at the bottom of the Conference table with minus five points.

Penney: They were better than us

Dave Penney conceded that his side didn't deserve the maginificent support that the Rovers fans gave their team on Saturday. "A few home truths have been said. The fans tried to get us going but possibly the players didn't deserve it." he said.l
Of the game, he said merely: "They were better than us - it was simple as that."

September 27, 2004

Around the goals

A look at former Rovers players in action this weekend begins this week in the Nationwide Conference, where Tyrone Thompson scored his first goal for Scarborough as they drew 1-1 at home to Barnet. Warren Peyton scored Leigh RMI's equaliser in their match at home to Hereford United - but the Bulls went on to win 4-3 to move into second place, just a point behind leaders Barnet.

Dropping down into the Conference North, Paul Barnes scored the first and last goals of Hinckley's home game against Droylsden - but it still ended in a 3-3 draw. Just six minutes before Barnes' last goal, ex-Rovers striker Steve Brodie had put Droylsden in front, and seemingly on the way to victory.
In the UniBond Division One, Micky Norbury put Ossett Albion in front , but an equaliser by Eastwood Town just before the break meant the game ended 1-1.

September 27, 2004

Bournemouth 5 Rovers 0

Rovers crashed to a hugely disappointing 5-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon at Bournemouth, having never really recovered from conceding two goals within the first five minutes. Again, the goals originated from attacks down the Bournemouth wings, which was the weakness of away matches that Dave Penney thought he had solved when they kept a clean sheet against Milton Keynes.
The "man of the match" voting ihas now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part - the result will be announced on Tuesday morning.
All other post-match updates are now avaialble in the "matches" section of this web site.

Cramb exits Gay Meadow

Former Rovers striker left Shrewsbury Town on Friday after agreeing a settlement to pay off the remainder of his contract at the club following a fortnight of negotiations at the club. Cramb has failed to start a game for the club this season, and has recently been on trials at Grimsby Town. Citing his lack of first team opportunities as the reason for leaving the club, Cramb is hoping to link up with Grimsby Town tomorrow morning.

Bournemouth v Rovers team news

Doncaster Rovers will have on-loan midfielder Mark Wilson available for this afternoon's away game at Bournemouth after he was refused permission to play in Tuesday's cup win over Ipswich Town. Striker Gregg Blundell will still be absent with an ankle injury, although after having a scan, the injury is not now as bad as first feared. Defenders Simon Marples, Tim Ryan and Dave Morley continue to be absent, so we expect the side this afternoon to be the same as played on Tuesday, with Wilson having to be content with a place on the bench.
Bournemouth hoep to have midfielder Marcus Browning available after being absent with a calf injury. Definitely missing will be Neil Young, who serves the last match in a four-game ban, Steve Fletcher, Jason Tindall and Stephen Purches due to injuries. Boss Sean O'Driscoll is set to name the same sixteen players that took part in the giant-killing Carling Cup game against Blackburn Rovers this week.

September 25, 2004

Brown not moving

Sunderland manager Mick McCarthy has ruled out the possibility of striker Chris Brown being available for a loan move, with the young striker being included in the first team side for the last two games, against Crewe and Leeds. McCarthy wants to involve Brown in the first team, especially with Kevin Kyle absent through injury.
Chris played 22 games and scored 10 goals for Rovers in a very successful long-term loan deal last season.

September 25, 2004

Blunt signs for Halifax

Former Doncaster Rovers midfielder Jason Blunt has been released by Tamworth, and has made a quick return to Yorkshire to sign for Halifax Town. Halifax boss Chris Wilder said: Jason is experienced in the Conference and it is a decent move for us. We're very light in midfield at the moment."

McGrath loan extended

Dave Penney has agreed that John McGrath's loan period at Shrewsbury Town can be extended for a further month, after the winger has impressed during his initial month at Gay Meadow. Penney is keep for John to keep match fit, but interestingly also refused to rule out the possibility that the move may eventually be made permanent. "If Shrewsbury wanted to make it permanent, we wouldn't stand in John's way, but at the moment we're glad he's playing regularly" said Penney.
McGrath has struggled to get in the Rovers first team following the arrival of Michael McIndoe last summer.

September 24, 2004

Coin trail

Bearing in mind there had been a home game just four days previously, an impressive £478.48 was raised towards the Viking Supporters' Co-operative's "Coin Trail" appeal on Tuesday evening. The total now stands at £18,755.17.
The "Coin Trail" is raising funds to help run the Rovers' youth team, which was re-formed this summer.

September 24, 2004

Ricky edges vote

Rovers midfielder Ricky Ravenhill edged home in the "Man of the Match" voting for Tuesday evening's match against Ipswich Town, coming home narrowly ahead of goalkeeper Andy Warrington. Thank you to the large number of people who voted - unfortunately we had to discount a number of votes for blatant efforts at multiple voting. The players receiving the largest number of your votes were:
1 Ricky Ravenhill (33.75%)
2 Andy Warrington (32.5%)
3 Mark Albrighton (12.5%)

September 24, 2004

Rovers v Bournemouth

We have been informed by AFC Bournemouth that there are some major roadworks in the Bournemouth area. The road works are on the A338 between Ringwood and Bournemouth - and whilst they have not been causing too many delays, any large influx of holiday visitors for the weekend may slow things down. They suggest that, if it is busy, you follow signs to Lynhurst at the end of the M27, and then head in to Bournemouth.

September 24, 2004

Mickey on Henderson transfer

Rovers assistant manager Mickey Walker said yesterday that Rovers still have a hope of signing Gillingham striker Darius Henderson. Whilst statements from Swindon Town make it appear that they have virtually completed the deal, Mickey said that none of the three clubs interested in signing Henderson (Bristol City, Swindon Town and Rovers) had been given permission to talk to the player. Dave Penney was due to speak to Gillingham again yesterday afternoon.

September 24, 2004

Rovers fan hurt in attack

The Rovers' victory over Ipswich Town on Tuesday evening was marred by the injury of a steward and a supporter during the match. They were hit by a brick which was thrown from outside the football ground. The two people - a steward and a boy of twelve, were taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary for the treatment of head injuries, but were released later.
We understand that stewards chased the culprit, but were unable to catch him. If anyone witnessed the incident, which happened late in the first half of the match, please contact PC Sarah Kingswood at Doncaster Police on 01302 385095.
Rovers have stated that they will have extra stewards on duty outside the ground to prevent such incidents happening in the future.

September 23, 2004

Rovers target Williams

Forest Green Rovers are targetting former Rovers goalkeeper Dean Williams as new manager Alan Lewer seeks to improve rock-bottom Forest Green's fortunes this season. Forest Green have given seven days notice that they intend to make an approach to Aberystwyth Town, Williams' current club. Dean was the first choice keeper at Welsh Premier League club Total Network Solutions until he had a disagreement with the club management in January, who then froze him out for the rest of the season. That dispute went to an industrial tribunal, with the hearing being held earlier this week, and is understood to have been settled to the satisfaction of both parties.

September 23, 2004

Rovers pipped to Henderson?

Following yesterday's news that Rovers were in the chase for Gillingham striker Darius Henderson, it now appears that Swindon may be favourites for his signature after lodging an appearances-based offer. Whilst the Rovers bid was indicated to be somewhere in the region of £100,000, Swindon have had an offer of £40,000 accepted, which will rise depending on appearances and promotion incentives. However, the deal has not yet been completed - Gillingham have agreed the offer, but the player has not yet agreed personal terms.

September 23, 2004

Former Rovers winger records CD

Former Doncaster Rovers winger Colin Grainger, now aged 71, has recorded a CD after having a post-playing career as a cabaret singer for many years. His career was intially combined with playing, singing at weddings, parties etc., but then spent the entire close season in cabaret and theatres. He then left showbiz behind to take up a job in the wine business before doing some scouting for Neil Warnock.
His new CD, titled "The Singing Footballer", features old-time tracks from Al Jolson and the like, including "Mammy" and "The impossible dream".

Forest to visit Belle Vue

The third round draw of the Carling Cup was made on Sky Sports 2 earlier this evening, and gave Rovers yet another home draw in the competition. They will host Nottingham Forest at Belle Vue in a match to be played on Tuesday, 26th October.
This is the first time that the two sides have met since Forest hammered Rovers 8-0 at Belle Vue in the relegation season of 1997/98, although Rovers did have the "consolation" of only losing 2-1 in Nottingham! Prior to that, the two clubs have not met since the 1956/57 season.
Tuesday's victory over Ipswich puts Rovers into the third round of the Carling Cup (then known as the League Cup) for the first time in almost thirty years.

September 21, 2004

Rovers 2 Ipswich 0

The upset of the second round of the Carling Cup took place at Belle Vue this evening, with Rovers going through to the third round of the competition for the first time in almost thirty years. Andy Warrington was perhaps the hero of the hour with half a dozen superb saves to deny Ipswich striker Darren Bent, but great goals early in each half - Ricky Ravenhill after six minutes of the first half, and Jermaine McSporran just sixteen seconds into the second half - saw Rovers home. It was a superb team performance by Rovers, who remained solid at the back under periods of Ipswich pressure, and the front two certainly did their part, even though neither Guy Ipoua or Leo Fortune-West got on the score sheet.
The "Man of the Match" voting has now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part - the result will be revealed on Friday morning.

September 22, 2004

Royle unhappy with "chocolate warriors"

An unhappy Ipswich manager, Joe Royle, heavily criticised his side following last night's defeat at Belle Vue. Despite having the balance of possession, the Championship visitors never imposed themselves on the game, and the expected onslaught in search of an equaliser never came. Royle said: "It's very disappointing to go out at this stage of the competition. We dominated possession and our goalkeeper didn't really have a save to make but we didn't create enough in front of goal either. Two or three of them didn't want to be there for whatever reason and it showed - we were chocolate warriors"
Meanwhile, Rovers manager Dave Penney is looking forward to the draw for the third round, and said: "We hope to get a big team in the next round, particularly a home draw, as I don't think too many teams would like to come here when we're in this form."
Penney felt that the introduction of Ricky Ravenhill influenced the Rovers' victory, with Rovers including him in the starting line-up to "do a job on Jim Magilton".

Rovers chase Henderson

Doncaster Rovers have joined the race to sign Darius Henderson from Gillingham. The Kent side have confirmed that an approach has been made, with Bristol City also understood to be preparing an offer for the 23-year old striker. Henderson has recently been on loan at Swindon Town, but was recalled for this week's Carling Cup game. Two bids by Swindon to sign him on a full transfer have already been rejected by Gillingham.

Youth team 5 Hartlepool 2

The Doncaster Rovers youth team side kept their good start to the season going on Saturday when they registered a convincing 5-2 victory over Hartlepool, with Craig Nelthorpe, Ben Jackson (2), Jason Flint and Nathan Ireland scoring the Rovers goals.

September 21, 2004

Rovers v Ipswich team news

Joe Royle has named his squad for this evening's Carling Cup tie at Belle Vue, which shows one addition - goalkeeper Kelvin Davis - to the squad that played against West Ham United on Sunday. Royle has already said that Matt Richards, Dean Bowditch and Tony Dinning, substitutes on Sunday, will start the match. Midfielder Tommy Miller is set to make his 100th appearances for the club this evening.
The Ipswich squad has been named as: Bent, Bowditch, Counago, Davis, Diallo, De Vos, Dinning, Horlock, Kuqi, Magilton, Miller, Mitchell, Naylor, Price, Richards, Westlake, Wilnis
Rovers have not made any hints as to the side they may put out this evening, but it looks likely that Dave Penney will name virtually the same squad that played on Saturday, with Gregg Blundell, Tim Ryan and Simon Marples due to miss the game as they are still injured. On-loan midfielder Mark Wilson will not be included this evening as Middlesborough do not want him to become cup-tied.

Sarge makes it two in a row

Mark Albrighton emerged as the clear winner (for the second match in a row) in the voting for the "Man of the Match" for the home game against Oldham Athletic on Saturday. With defenders taking the top five positions in the voting, and eight players in total receiving nominations, the leading votes were cast as follows:
1 Mark Albrighton (37.29%)
2 Nic Priet (25.42%)
3 Steve Foster (16.95%)
4 Andy Warrington (8.47%)
Thank you to everyone who took part in the voting - the latest poll will open later this evening following the home Carling Cup tie against Ipswich Town.

September 21, 2004

Coin trial total update

The Viking Supporters' Co-operative have reported that another good response to their "Coin Trail" was received at the Oldham Athletic - and they raised their total by £495.01, meaning that their new total is £18,276.69.
Thanks go to those who contributed and collected the money on Saturday - no doubt the buckets will be around again this evening!

September 21, 2004

Price injured

Rovers defender Jamie Price, currently on loan at Burton Albion, missed Saturday's game against Crawley Town after picking up an ankle injury in Burton's midweek Birmingham Senior Cup game against Sutton Coldfield Town.

September 21, 2004

Tranmere 1 Rovers Belles 1

Doncaster Rovers Belles picked up their second point of the season on Sunday afternoon after drawing 1-1 at Tranmere Rovers, in a match played in very blustery condiitons. The Doncaster goal was scored by Sammy Newton after just ten minutes.

September 20, 2004

Penney disappointed

Rovers boss Dave Penney spoke of his disappointment at the way his side played in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Oldham Athletic, with Rovers equalising through a Michael McIndoe penalty just before half time. Penne said of the game: "The wind spoiled the game but we didn't get the ball down and pass it like we can, which was disappointing. We chose the easy option and knocked it long and didn't play much football."

September 20, 2004

Exley captains England

Doncaster Rovers Belles skipper Vicky Exley had the honour of captaining the England Ladies' team yesterday owing to the unavailability of Arsenal's Faye White, and marked the game with a goal - and an England win. Exley equalised for England in their game against Holland in first half stoppage time, with England's winner coming from subsitute Amanda Barr 18 minutes into the second half.

September 20, 2004

Williams joins Railwaymen

Former Rovers striker Gary Williams, now described as a wide-right midfielder, has signed for Nationwide Conference side Leigh RMI, even though he had signed for Conference North side Stalybridge Celtic earlier this season. Williams has returned to England after playing for a couple of years in the United States, and made an instand impact on their game last week.

September 20, 2004

Rovers 1 Oldham 1

A game not helped by a deceptively strong wind deservedly ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon at Belle Vue. Neither side played particularly well, although Rovers did seem to be rather harshly denied a second Michael McIndoe goal in the second half which was disallowed for offside. Rovers equalised on the stroke of half time when a Mark Albrighton shot was handled, which McIndoe convincingly put away to put Rovers level.
The "man of the match" voting has now closed. Thank you to everyone who took the trouble to vote - we will calculate the answer and let you know on Tuesday morning.

September 19, 2004

Jackson signs for Harrogate

Former Rovers record signing Justin Jackson has signed for Nationwide North club Harroage town in a two year deal. After having a phenomenal goal-scoring record at Morecambe and Rushden & Diamonds, Jackson's goal scoring exploits hit the buffers at Belle Vue. He most recently played for Nationwide Conference side Accrington Stanley, although he only manage to play three times for them before being released due to persistent injury problems.

September 19, 2004

Rovers launch 125 Club

In response to a suggestion made by a group of fans, the Rovers have announced that they will be launching the "125 Club" at the home game against Wrexham, which is the match the club have designated for the 125th anniversary celebrations. A medal will be issued to each "125 Club Member", and there will be three levels of membership - gold, silver and bronze.
Gold membership will cost £125, with membership being limited to 125 members.
Silver membership will cost £50, and will have a limited membership of 500.
Bronze memership will cost £25, with an unlimited number of members.
At all levels, each member will receive a medal and a commemorative certificate.
As a special incentive, 125 Club members will also get the first choce on season tickets for the new Community Stadium. In addition, a special "125 shirt" has been commissioned which will only be on sale to 125 Club members, which will cost £35.
Enquiries should be made to the Rovers club offices.

September 19, 2004

Rankine signs for the Iron

Former Rovers youth team striker has signed for Scunthorpe United on non-contract terms after impressing boss Brian Laws during a period on trials at the club. The Barrow striker is expected to spend two or three months at Glanford Park where he will have the opportunity of earning a permanent deal. Barrow, Rankine's current club, will see compensation from Scunthorpe for the player should they eventually offer him a permanent deal. However, since Barrow still retain Rankine's registration, and Barrow boss Lee Turnbulll has said that if he isn't playing in Scunthorpe's first team, then he will turn out for the Bluebirds.

September 19, 2004

Half time draw special

At both yesterday's game and Tuesday's home game against Ipswich, all those buying a half time draw ticket will have an additional chance of a prize. Two additional winners will be drawn from each match, with the four taking part in a penalty shoot-out at half time of the Wrexham game. The winner of that shoot-out will receive £125 in a new Leeds & Holbeck Building Society "Donny Rovers Saver" account.

September 18, 2004

Rovers v Oldham team news

Dave Penney has urged his players to forget about the prospect of next week's Carling Cup tie against Ipswich, and to concentrate on keeping the impressive home form going. "Oldham in the league comes first and that has got to be our priority. We've done well in the leagues in the past couple of seasons and it is important we try to keep that going. That is where your bread and butter is and it is important that we don't get distracted."
Rovers will be without striker Gregg Blundell and defender Tim Ryan, with Simon Marples also likely to miss out again with a stomach muscle injury.
Oldham arrive at Belle Vue this afternoon still looking for their first away win of the season - they have only picked up one point from a possible twelve, even though they have the best scoring record in the country at home.
Trialist keeper Craig Mawson will continue in place of Australian Les Pogliacomi, who picked up a groin strain recently, and midfielder Mark Bonner is still out with a hamstring injury. Striker Rodney Jack is back from international duty and is set to start the game alongside Jermaine Johnson. Ernie Cooksey has had his contract paid up, and has signed for Rochdale this week.

VSC meeting reminder

We would like to remind all supporters that the Annual General Meetign of the Viking Supporters' Co-operative will take place this morning at 11am in the new Viking Sports Bar (the new building in the Rovers car park!). After some short formal business, the meeting will be addressed by John Ryan and Mayor Martin Winter before a visual presentation of images of the new stadium will be given.
Please also note that there will be some exclusive drawings of the design for the new Community Stadium in this afternoon's match day programme.
The Co-operative will also be presenting John Ryan with a £10,000 cheque as the results of the latest part of their fund raising efforts.

Youth team v Hartlepool

The Rovers youth team are at home to Hartlepool United today - the match kicks off at 12 noon.

September 18, 2004

Lawrence joins Bees

In a quick turn around from yesterday, it now has been reported that former Rovers winger Jamie Lawrence has signed for Brentford on a week-to-week contract, and is set to be included in their squad this weekend. The 34-year old played for Jamaica in their 3-0 World Cup Qualifying match win over El Salvador last weekend, but is currently without a club.
Owing to Brentford's financial difficulties, Lawrence has agreed to play this weekend for nothing.

September 17, 2004

Rovers v Oldham team news

Gregg Blundell and Tim Ryan will definitely miss tomorrow afternoon's home game against Oldham Athletic after failing to recover from injuries. Blundell's ankle was injured in the move from which Rovers won the corner that Mark Albrighton scored the winning goal of the game against Milton Keynes, forcing his substitution a few minutes later.
Tim Ryan has a foot injury that kept him out of the victory at Milton Keynes, and whilst a scan has revealed no serious damage, he has not recovered sufficiently to play.
Simon Marples is doubtful for tomorrow's game with a stomach muscle injury, so Rovers are set to name the same defensive partnership of Albrighton, Priet, Foster and Fenton that played last Saturday.
Whilst Rovers have a mouth watering Carling Cup tie against Ipswich next Tuesday, Dave Penney is taking the classic "one game at a time" approach, stressing that the league is his priority.

September 17, 2004

Lawrence to make Bantams return?

Former Rovers winger Jamie Lawrence, most recently at Grimsby Town, is set for a return to Valley Parade. Bradford boss Colin Todd hopes to sign Jamie, and has already spoken to him about the move. However, Todd cannot sign him at the moment due to the club still being in administration. Lawrence left Bradford for Walsall in April 2003, and has since played for Wigan and Grimsby.
