Boss pays tribute to fans
Speaking after Saturday's defeat against Yeovil Town, Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll paid tribute to the travelling Rovers fans, saying: "I want to thank all of the Rovers fans who made the trip to Huish Park today, even though we technically didn't have anything to play for. As always, the supporters were fantastic as they have been all season. I'd like to thank them for their support."
With Rovers forced to make changes to the side at half time, with Jonathan Forte and Paul Green being replaced by Sam Hird and Liam Green, O'Driscoll explained: "There were a lot of tired legs out on the pitch today and it showed, particularly towards the end. I do feel that the team gave everything they had today and the lads are bitterly disappointed to have come away with nothing today."

Yeovil 1 Rovers 0
Rovers were forced to make several changes to the side for this afternoon's away game at Yeovil Town, with Jan Budtz making his first appearance in Rovers colours for over six months, and former youth teamers Liam Green, Matt Noble and Rob Pacey being added to the squad.
Yeovil stared the game well, although Rovers won the first corner of the game in the 6th minute - four minutes later, Yeovil forced Lockwood to make a good block from a shot by Morris. The rest of the half was fairly even, although Forte was unlucky to be denied by Mildenhall just before half time after being put through by Thornton.
Liam Green and Sam Hird were introduced as substitutes at half time, with Rovers giving as good as they got for the first few minutes of the second period. The only goal of the game followed in the 72nd minute when Gray rifled a shot into the roof of the net, and despite Rovers pressure, they couldn't find a way through to get the equaliser.
The result sees Yeovil confirmed as taking part in the end of season play-offs, and Rovers finishing between 9th and 11th after the final set of fixtures next weekend.
The "Man of the match" voting is now closed. Thank you to everyone who has taken part; the result will be announced on Tuesday morning.

Goals review
We begin this week's review of former Doncaster Rovers players scoring goals at Brisbane Road, where Jack Lester scored twice for Nottingham Forest in their 3-1 win against Leyton Orient; a reulst that sees Forest go into the last weekend of the season just a point away from the automatic promotion places in League One.
Meanwhile, JJ Melligan scored a late goal for Cheltenham in their 4-2 win at Rotherham United, despite the home side going 2-0 up in the 22nd minute.
Dropping down into the Conference, the goal machine that is Andy Campbell scored twice for Halifax Town in their 2-1 win over Stevenage Borough - a result that sees Halifax finish four points above the relegation places. In the Conference North, Ben Saunders scored a late consolation goal for Worksop in their 2-1 defeat at Leigh RMI. Defeat sees Worksop relegated from the Conference North to the UniBond Premier, along with Scarborough and doomed Lancaster City.
In the UniBond Premier Division, Ian Clark scored for Gateshead in their 2-0 win over relegated Mossley. Finally, Richard Offiong continued a great season for him by scoring again for Hamilton in their 4-3 defeat against St Johnstone in front of a record crowd of 4,975 at New Douglas Park.

Congratulations, Copps!
We would like to pass on our congratulations to James Coppinger and his wife, following the news of the birth of their baby boy.
James missed yesterday's game at Huish Park owing to the birth. Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll commented: "James Coppinger didn't make the trip today after his wife gave birth to a baby boy. I think that it is very important for him to be with his family at such a special time."

Yeovil v Rovers
Doncaster Rovers will give goalkeeper Jan Budtz his first start since September after being recalled from his loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers a week early. The recall was necessary due to the return of Neil Sullivan to Leeds at the end of his three months on loan. Rovers will also be without Craig Nelthorpe, who was sent off a couple of weeks ago whilst playing for Gateshead, and striker Bruce Dyer is very doubtful after suffering a back injury early into Tuesday's reserve team game against Rotherham United. Paul Green is also doubtful with a series of knocks.
It is also uncertain whether winger James Coppinger will play today as his wife is due to give birth imminently, but Adam Lockwood and Sean McDaid have recovered from minor injuries, and will be added to the squad for today's match. Midfielder Sean Thornton came through the reserves game without any reaction, and is also set for a recall today.
Further improvement on the injury front comes with news that Steve Roberts and Ben Smith have been doing some running as they continue to recover from ankle and knee injuries respectively. Kevin Horlock has suffered no adverse reaction after having resumed training over a week ago.
Goalkeeper Barry Richardson is also unlikely to make the trip to Yeovil, as his wife is also due to give birth in the next few days.
Yeovil's main injury concern is over skipper Terry Skiverton, who faces a late fitness test ahead of the game. Skiverton, who has been named in the League One "team of the season", has returned to training this week after suffering from a groin injury. Chris Cohen will continue in the side after making a successful return from an ankle injury, ahead of schedule, against Rotherham last week.

McIndoe continues penalty duty
Former Rovers winger Michael McIndoe is set to continue as Wolverhampton Wanderers' designated penalty taker, despite his miss against Birmingham City last week. McIndoe, who had an impressive record of penalty taking whilst at Rovers, saw a great save by Birmingham keeper Colin Doyle continue Wolves' penalty jinx of this season.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy said: “No definite decision has been taken but Macca has got a very good record. If you look at his penalties over the years he’s done really well. Having watched the penalty since the ‘keeper has done very well against him. It was a terrific save. He left him a lot to aim at and certainly moved and dived forward when it was taken."

Gill sees red as Gisborne crash
Former Rovers striker Robert Gill was sent off in the 12th minute of Gisborne City's match at Napier last weekend. Gill scored a goal in the 12th minute, which the referee disallowed - he "disputed" the decision to disallow the goal, and was sent off in their Central League game. Gill had previously been a success since his arrival in New Zealand, but his absence for 78 minutes of the game contributed to Gisborne City going down to a 4-1 defeat.

McCammon offered new deal
Injured Rovers striker Mark McCammon has been offered a new contract by Doncaster Rovers. Rovers, who are hoping that he will be fit for pre-season training, have offered him a new deal after impressing in several matches this season. He also holds the distinction of scoring the first goal at the Keepmoat Stadium. However, his season was ended a few weeks ago after falling awkwardly in the away game at Nottingham Forest, which dislocated his shoulder, which necessitated further surgery.
McCammon is yet to give Rovers a decision on whether he will accept the contract offer.

Campbell hits milestone goal
Former Rovers striker Neil Campbell scored Billingham Synthonia's 4000th league goal in their 3-1 win over Bishop Auckland last Wednesday. Their first goal in the Northern League was scored by Bill Duckling in 1945 - only Bishop Auckland, Shildon and Town Law Town have scored more Northern League goals than Billingham.
Campbell played 52 league matches for Rovers between 1999 and 2002, scoring 15 goals.

Sam scores title-winning goal
An injury time goal by former Rovers loan player Sam Oji enabled Birmingham City to clinch the Pontin's Holidays Division One Central League title on Wednesday. His late goal came three minutes into injury time of their match away at Shrewsbury, enabling City to come away with a 3-3 draw. With Nottingham Forest's reserves winning 4-3 at Port Vale earlier in the day, Birmingham knew that a point would be enough to win the title - but they only just made it!

The voting for the "Man of the match" for Saturday's game against Brentford saw ten players receive nominations, but the real contest boiled down to a close tussle between Lewis Guy, Craig Nelthorpe and Adam Lockwood, with little separating all three. However, the final result was:
1 Adam Lockwood (27.12%)
2 Lewis Guy (23.73%)
3 Craig Nelthorpe (22.03%)
Thank you to the many people who took the time to vote. The next poll will open on Saturday evening following the away game at Yeovil Town.

More goals
Former Rovers winger Michael McIndoe scored twice and was denied a hat-trick for Wolves yesterday afternoon when his penalty kick was saved by Birmingham keeper Doyle. The 3-2 final result in favour of Birmingham City sees them go top of the Championship, with Wolves in 6th place.
Another former Rovers player scoring this weekend was defender Nick Fenton, who got Grimsby Town's fourth goal in their 5-0 demolition of Barnet in League Two on Saturday.

Rovers 3 Brentford 0
Rovers ended their poor home league form of late with a 3-0 victory over already relegated Brentford. With both sides having little at stake - Rovers were out of reach of the play-offs and Brentford were already doomed - both managers took the opportunity to experiment a little. Sean O'Driscoll gave a first start to Craig Nelthorpe on the left wing, with Sam Hird and Liam Green also given an opportunity to show what they could do as late substitutes.
An instantly forgettable first half looked to be heading goalless until deep into added on time, with Stuary Nelson failed to deal with Brian Stock's free kick - Adam Lockwood fired home a superb shot from a narrow angle to give Rovers a half time lead.
Brentford defender Osborne was shown a straight red card for a foul on Nelthorpe in the 61st minute, which put League One's bottom club really up against it, and six minutes later they were 2-0 down with a superb finish from Mark Wilson, who fired a left foot shot past Nelson from 15 yards. Jonathan Forte then hit the crossbar - then in the 76th minute he was brought down in the penalty area to earn Rovers a spot kick. Lewis Guy blasted home the penalty with some style, which gave Rovers a healthy victory margin.
The "Man of the match" voting has now closed. The result will be announced on Tuesday morning.

Turn out for Rovers' civic reception!
Large numbers of Rovers fans are expected to turn out to cheer the players on the way to the Mansion House this morning as they head for a civic reception granted to them by Doncaster Council. The Johnstone's Paint Trophy will be on display as the bus travels from the Keepmoat Stadium to the Mansion House, followed, no doubt, by various sightings from the balcony once they arrive.
The open-topped bus is due to set off from the Keepmoat Stadium at 10.30am, arriving at the Mansion House around 11am, taking in the following route:
Keepmoat Stadium
White Rose Way
Carr House Road
Bennetthorpe
South Parade
Wood Street
Printing Office Street
Priory Place
Mansion House
The players are due to leave the Mansion House at around midday to return to the stadium.

Goals review
Former Rovers striker Neil Roberts scored one of the most important goals of his career yesterday when he fired in the only goal of the game eleven minutes from time against bottom club Torquay United. The three points keep Wrexham marginally ahead of Boston with a superior goal difference of just 3.
Ex-Rovers youth team striker Michael Rankine was on target for Rushden & Diamonds in their 2-0 home win over Woking in the Conference, whilst in the UniBond Premier Division, former youth team player Calum Selby scored for the second weekend in a row as Frickley beat Kendal 2-1 at home. Finally, also in the UniBond Premier, former Rovers striker Andy Hayward scored two goals for Ossett Town as they beat Mossley 2-0 to confirm Mossley's relegation.
April 21, 2007
Rovers v Brentford
Doncaster Rovers will be forced into making at least one change for this afternoon's home game against already relegated Brentford, with Danny Cadamarteri having been recalled by Leicester City at the end of his month's loan. This seems to suggest that Rovers will play two of Jonathan Forte, Bruce Dyer and Lewis Guy up front this afternoon.
Midfielder Sean Thornton looks as though he will be fit after suffering a 'dead leg' during last week's away game at Leyton Orient, and will be hoping to keep his place today. Mark Wilson may be in line for a recall after missing out last week due to a knock.
For Brentford, who had their relegation confirmed last week, it is an opportunity for new manager Barry Quin to give some of his younger players a chance at first team level. Jo Kuffour is likely to miss out with a wrist injury, and defender Matt Heywood is doubtful with a groin injury. However, young striker Ross Montague impressed the Bees' manager with his performance after coming on as a substitute in last week's defeat against Nottingham Forest, and could be given the first start of his career.
April 21, 2007
Neil's farewell
Today sees the final match of Neil Sullivan's loan at Doncaster Rovers. Due to loan transfer regulations, Sullivan has to return to Leeds next week after completing 93 days on loan at Rovers. With his contract at Leeds expiring at the end of the season, and Leeds boss Dennis Wise putting Ankergren and Stack ahead of him at Elland Road, a new contract does not appear to be forthcoming, and it is hoped that Neil will be making signing a full contract with Rovers during the summer.
Whilst Rovers may lose the services of Sullivan after today's game, the return of Jan Budtz after his loan at Wolves will boost the number of goalkeepers on the books. As with Sullivan, Budtz reaches the end of his allowed 93 days on loan - he signed for Wolves on 25th January so, according to our calculations, he will return to Rovers just in time for next Saturday's game at Yeovil.
With Ben Smith sidelined whilst he recovers from a cartilage operation, the only other goalkeeper on the books at Rovers is coach Barry Richardson.
April 21, 2007
Special prices today
Please remember that, to help celebrate the victory in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy a couple of weeks ago, admission prices for today's game against Brentford have been reduced. Adults will pay just £10, with concessions £5. All aged under 18 will be able to get into the ground free of charge.
Rovers are hoping that the cut-price offer will help fill the Keepmoat Stadium as they put on a package of entertainment both before the match and at half time.
April 21, 2007
Have your photo taken with the trophy!
This afternoon, you have the opportunity to have your photograph taken with the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. For £5, you will have your photograph taken with the trophy, with the cost also including a copy of the match day programme. If you arrive after 1.30pm, there will be the opportunity of having your photo taken with a player as well!
If queues prevent you being able to have your photograph taken with the trophy, all is not lost! The cup will be at Skellow Grange WMC on Tuesday 24th April from 8pm, with a Rovers player also due to be in attendance.

Ryan to discuss squad changes
Rovers chairman John Ryan is planning to hold a meeting with team manager Sean O'Driscoll in the next week to discuss potential changes to the Rovers squad for next season. Ryan had hoped that Rovers would mount a sterner promotion challenge this season, using the slogan "Destination Championship" earlier in the season, but has been disappointed that his dream of promotion has been dashed.
Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Ryan said: "Our goal is very simple. We want to be in the Championship and we're disappointed we're not in there now. But certain things conspired against us, particularly injuries and we want to give ourselves a maximum chance by getting back there for the first time since 1958. We've got the stadium and a very strong squad and I'm sure Sean will have some idea of the sort of players that he'd like to bring in during the close season."
"I think it is fairly obvious that we need another quality striker. My view is I'd like to see a strong midfielder brought in. We have really missed Kevin Horlock all season."

Redfearn fires Steels into final
Former Rover Neil Redfearn fired Stocksbridge Park Steels into the final of the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA Senior Cup earlier this week with an extra time 4-3 victory over Parkgate. Their opposition is yet to be determined, but the final will be played at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough stadium at the end of the season.

Rovers introduce family area

Doncaster Rovers are planning to introduce a "family friendly area" for next season, and have allocated the south-east corner of the Keepmoat Stadium for this purpose. There will be seats in the price bands for categories B and C. Season tickets for these areas will be available to season ticket holders until 30th May, after which the area will be on sale to the general public.

Man United agree Keepmoat date
Premiership giants Manchester United have agreed to visit the Keepmoat Stadium as a pre-season friendly. United were originally due to come to play as an "official opening" match, but no date could be agreed at the time. Sir Alex Ferguson has promised to send a strong side to fact Rovers in the match, which is due to take place on Thursday, 2nd August.
With an anticipated high demand for tickets, arrangements will be published on this website and in the local press in due course, although Rovers have hinted that, should demand prove to be high, priority will be given to season ticket holders.
Rovers are also hoping to announce friendly fixtures against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United in the coming weeks.

Lee has ankle op
Rovers skipper Graeme Lee is to undergo an operation on his ankle today to resolve a problem he has had for several weeks. He jarred the joint before the Brighton game, which has prevented him from playing since. The club have taken the opportunity to for him to have the operation now so that he will be fully recovered by the time the squad report back for pre-season trainking.
It appears that a decision on whether James Coppinger needs to have an operation will be delayed until the end of the season. Coppinger has been suffering from a groin problem for much of the season, although Sean O'Driscoll has said that the problem appears to have improved of late.
Kevin Horlock has joined in training with the rest of the squad this week, but only on a non-contact basis, but his recovery appears to be going well.

Lincoln City 0 Reserves 1
Doncaster Rovers registered a 1-0 win at Lincoln City in yesterday's reserve team game. A penalty from Adam Brown in the 32nd minute was enough to give Rovers all three points, although Lincoln were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes of the game. Ryan Semple's spot-kick was saved by Barry Richardson, with the rebound being blasted high over the crossbar.
Rovers put out a side which mainly comprised of youth team players.
Lincoln: Robert Olejnik, Russell Short, Lee Welburn, Jack Cotton, Phil Watt, Andy Toyne, Ryan Semple, Shane Clarke, Lenell John-Lewis, Gary King, Martin Pembleton
Substitutes: Luke Baxter, Jamie McCormack, Danny Hone, Billy Stubbs, Tom Garrick
Rovers : Barry Richardson, Andrew Hawksworth, Rob Pacey, Andrew Boyce, Danny Bowland, Adam Brown, Matty Noble, Liam Green, Will McGhee, Jon-Paul Pittman, Jordan Lodge
Substitutes: Tom Griffiths, Jason Hardy, Mike Guiliat, Luke Duffy

MPs praise Rovers
Eleven MPs have signed a Commons motion praising Doncaster Rovers for their 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final at the Millennium Stadium. The MPs congratulated both teams for being an "excellent advertisement for good quality English football".
The motion was tabled by Labour's Jeff Ennis (Barnsley East & Mexborough), with the motion also being signed by Clive Betts, Colin Burgon, Ronnie Campbell, Harry Cohen, Stephen Hepburn, Alan Keen, Eric Martlew, Doug Naysmith, Terry Rooney and Stephen Williams.
Interestingly, none of those signing the motion were the MPs representing Doncaster constiuencies.

Injury update
Rovers look as though they should be able to call upon Sean Thornton in Saturday's home game against Brentford. Despite fears of something more serious when he was substituted on Saturday at Leyton Orient, physio John Dickens is confident that Thornton will be fit for Saturday. "He just got a knock, that's all. Sean didn't train today but should be OK within a couple of days." he said.
However, Sean McDaid is likely to be missing due to soreness in the knee ligament which is the same one that kept him out for three months. Goalkeeper Ben Smith is back in training after his cartilage operation, but is not expected to play again this season.
Strikers Paul Heffernan and Jason Price are making good progress from their injuries. Heffernan's injury is "settling down nicely", but he has been ruled out for the rest of the season, whilst Price sees a specialist tomorrow for a post-operation check. As long as everything is progressing well, he will have his pot taken off, and a walking boot fitted.
Mark McCammon is progressing well from the operation on his dislocated shoulder, and should be fit by the time the squad return for pre-season training.
April 18, 2007
Sam goes back

Sam Oji, who spent a month on loan at Doncaster Rovers during last season, has gone back to Birmingham City after ending a two month loan stay at Bristol Rovers. The 21-year old central defender made five starts for the Pirates, but has not featured since their home defeat against Wrexham four weeks ago.

Cadamarteri in talks with Foxes
Danny Cadamarteri returned to Leicester City this week following the expiry of his month on loan at Doncaster Rovers. However, with a change of management at Leicester since he left to join Rovers, the immediate future of the striker is uncertain. He is seeking a meeting with new boss Nigel Worthington to find out if he has a future at the club, where his contract expires in the summer.
The 27-year old striker said: "If the manager tells me I have a part to play and will be involved in the games I have got to accept that and do my best for Leicester. But if I'm going to be a bit-part player and not be involved so much then I will ask if there is a possibility of staying here and palying games and helping Doncaster as well."
Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll has already said that Cadamarteri would be welcome back. "If it doesn't work out at Leicester, then we woudl be interested."
