Once
the ticket office at the Keepmoat Stadium closed today, there were just
700 tickets remaining, which puts them on course for a virtually capacity
crowd for tomorrow's match against Huddersfield. The remaining tickets
will be on sale from 9am tomorrow morning, so we advise anyone that still
intends to buy a ticket to get there early! |

With a goalless
draw on the cards, Rovers conceded three goals in four minutes late
in the second half to bring to an end a superb run of results which
had seen them climb to within two points of the play-off places. A Paul
Heffernan goal came too late, but kept his great goalscoring run going.
Despite the result, Rovers remain in ninth place, although they are
now five points behind sixth place. |

Nelthorpe
extends loan stay |

Gateshead
FC have confirmed that they ahve signed Rovers winger Craig Nelthorpe
on loan for a further month after impressing in his first match at the
club. The club further improved their position in the UniBond Premier
League when they climbed to 14th yesterday, thanks to two goals from Nelthorpe,
in the 59th and 64th minutes, who also laid on a further goal as Gateshead
won 4-2 at Lincoln United, who included former Rovers midfielder Jason
Minett in their ranks. Friday's statement from Gateshead reads: "Craig Nelthorpe will also be available again tomorrow after re-signing on loan from Doncaster Rovers. The left sided midfielder has been a class act in his previous Gateshead matches and the double signing should boost the squad again of a vital match." |

offered new Rovers deal |

Young
Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Ben Smith is close to agreeing a new contract
with the club following his impressive performances in the first team
this season. The 19-year-old's current contract expires at the end of
this season. Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll said: "He is very enthusiastic,
maybe a bit impetuous at times for a keeper but he shows that only in
training. He's not impetuous in games so that has been a big plus. He
does all the simple things well and he has almost got a new contract under
his belt." |

want Streete to sign |

Young
Derby County defender Theo Streete, who has featured regularly since coming
to Rovers on loan, has impressed Sean O'Driscoll sufficiently to be offered
a contract following the expiry of his loan deal at the club. Streete
has returned to Derby following his loan, but Rovers are hopeful of signing
the defender when the transfer window opens in January. O'Driscoll has
made no secret of his desire to bolster his defensive options, and with
Streete settling in well at Rovers, a permanent move looks to be the ideal
solution. O'Driscoll said: "We've made Theo an offer through his agent and hopefully he will accept, but there are one or two other clubs showing an interest," said O'Driscoll. |

A
fascinating contest looks to be due this afternoon at Bloomfield Road,
with both Rovers and Blackpool in good form at the moment. Rovers are
reporting no new injury concerns, but they do welcome Jason Price back
into the squad after recovering from a hamstring injury. With Paul Heffernan
in good form, scoring five goals in the last seven games (many of which
have been as a substitute), Price may well have to settle for a place
on the bench this afternoon. Alan Blayney and Steve Roberts are still not ready for a return to action after missing several matches recently. Rovers are now just two points behind Blackpool, who are in sixth place in the League One table. |

Sixth
placed Blackpool will be missing winger Rory Prendergast due to suspension
this afternoon, and may be without defender Andy Wilkinson, who suffered
an ankle injury in their Boxing Day match against Carlisle United. With Blackpool being only one goal of being League One's top scorers this season, their impressive strikeforce of Keigan Parker, Andy Morrell, Scott Vernon and Ben Burgess have helped the club to scoring 37 goals so far. With Rovers having the best defensive record in League One - just 17 goals in 23 matches, and none conceded in the last six matches - it will be interesting to see how today's match turns out, with the weather and condition of the pitch likely to play a significant part. With over 5,200 home tickets already sold, and over 1,000 expected from Rovers, a good crowd is expected today. Please note that Blackpool have now decided that you will be able to pay on the gate. |

Rovers' midfielder Liam Green has mvoed to UniBond club Guiseley on loan
to gain some further experience after failing to break through into the
Rovers first team so far this season. Green made his debut for the club on Boxing day when he played in their 1-0 defeat at Marine, with boss Terry Dolan saying: 'Liam was decent on the ball and has good feet but one of the reasons he has come to us is for him to gain experience and he will certainly get that in the UniBond League. I think he will find it quite different from playing for Doncaster's reserves or youth team.' Green had a couple of chances to score, but was denied by the Marine goalkeeper, with another ex-Rover, Robert Pell, heading narrowly over from a corner. |

It
looks likely that next Monday's match against Huddersfield Town will be
a sell-out, with over 15,000 expected to attend the opening fixture at
the Keepmoat Stadium. Reports suggest that there were about 2,000 tickets
remaining yesterday, but with long queues for most of the day yesterday,
the hoped-for sell-out looks certain. Monday's match will see pre-match entertainment on a similar format to that seen at the Nottingham Forest game, and we urge everyone to get there early to make sure that you get into the ground in time. The entertainment is due to start at around 2pm. There will be a large T-shirt on everyone's seat for the game, with the Rovers asking that everyone wears it to create a red and white hooped effect all round the stadium (away end excepted!). The shirts are apparently large enough to fit over your outer clothing. Tickets for the game are available from the Keepmoat Stadium or by calling the ticket office on 01302 762576. |

kick competition |

Doncaster Rovers have postponed the "Win a car" competition that was due to take place at the Nottingham Forest game. It will now take place at half time of the Bolton Wanderers game on 6th January. The postponement was due to a combination of the condition of the surface at Belle Vue which caused the postponement of the Yeovil game, and the fact that the postponement has caused far fewer entries to be received than anticipated. |

traffic/parking information |

The
following press release has been issued by South Yorkshire Police: The first football game for Doncaster Rovers at the new stadium is to be played on Monday 1 January 2007, with a 3pm kick off. This game is anticipated to sell out and it also coincides with the New Year sales at the nearby Lakeside Village, shopping outlet, therefore it is asked that football supporters should arrive early to avoid delays. This is also the first day of the new traffic regulations which have been implemented to minimise the congestion around the new stadium area. Football traffic is to turn left at Lady Bank roundabout onto White Rose Way and travel along to Middle Bank roundabout, stadium car parks can then be accessed from Middle Bank Road, Carriage Drive or Wilmington Road. This will be clearly signposted from the town centre and the M18 motorway. Inspector Bill Davidson, of the planning department said, "The first game at the new stadium is anticipated to be very well supported, therefore we would ask that supporters arrive early to ensure the events runs with the minimum of disruption to local residents." "Supporters attending the fixture should show due consideration to local residents when parking their vehicles and parking regulations will be enforced." |

Former
Rovers player Kevin McIntyre scored Macclesfield Town's second goal on
their way to a 3-0 win at Chester City yesterday. The result means that
Macclesfield move off the bottom of the League Two table, something that
seemed unlikely until a remarkable transformation in form only recently. Also in League Two, ex-Rover Richie Barker scored for Mansfield in their 2-0 win at Dave Penney's Darlington. After winning the first five matches after joining Darlington, injuries to key defenders have seen Dave Penney's men suffer a reverse in fortunes. Former Rovers midfielder John Doolan scored Rochdale's equaliser in their 2-2 draw at home to Wrexham. In the Nationwide Conference, Rod Thornley scored Altrincham's first goal in their 3-0 home win over Northwich Victoria, and in the UniBond Premier Division, the evergreen Andy Hayward scored for Ossett Town in their 2-0 win over Frickley Athletic. |

Doncaster
Rovers will have to make at least one change for this afternoon's away
game at Bradford City, with Brian Stock having reached the end of his
third month on loan from Preston North End on Saturday. Mark Wilson or
Sean Thornton look likely to take his place in central midfield for the
next two matches until Stock returns on January 1st on a full transfer.
Jason Price and James O'Connor look likely to miss out again due to hamstring
and heel injuries respectively, whilst Steve Roberts still is not considered
to be ready for a first team return after an absence due to a head injury. Bradford City appear to have limited options for who lines up in their attack, with Lee Holmes and Ben Muirhead out for today's match. The likely pairing up front wil be Dean Windass and David Graham. Rovers will be out to continue their recent impressive sequence of results, which has seen them win their last four matches. The club go into today's game only three points behind fifth placed Swansea City. |

Doncaster
Rovers bade farewell to Belle Vue in victorious fashion, and whilst they
had the uppoer hand for most of the match, forcing Paul Smith to make
several brilliant saves, the only goal of the game - which of course makes
it the last goal to be scored at Belle Vue - went down to a goalkeeping
mistake. In the 60th minute, young defender Theo Streete gained possession
wide on the right, and with all the players lining up at the far post
for the expected cross, Streete elected to go for the near post instead.
His shot went straight at the goalkeeper, but instead of the comfortable
catch that it ought to have been, Smith failed to get hold of the ball
and it span into the net off his chest. The occasion was marked with a great display of fireworks at the end of the game, as well as a number of other attractions before the game, at half time, and after the full time whistle. With
the final match at Belle Vue due to be Brian Makepeace's testimonial on
Thursday, the day is coming closer that the fans that have bought some
of the Belle Vue pitch will be able to go down and collect their piece
of history. Rovers have offered areas of the pitch on two occasions - once in the early 90's, when they were sold off in square yards - and then this year with a square foot being sold for £15.95 a square foot as part of the "End of an Era" marketing. Rovers have confirmed that they will honour the original sale of the turf, with only a small proportion of the pitch being bought in the 1990's fund-raising venture. Anyone who did so must contact the club and be in possession of the certificate that was issued at the time. However, for obvious reasons, you will have to collect the turf in person. |

Injured
Rovers striker Jason Price has been praised by boss Sean O'Driscoll after
adapting well to a new role under the new regime. Price has been playing
much further forward, which has benefitted his overall play. O'Driscoll commented: "I didn't come here with the intention of playing four forwards but, to an extent, circumstances have dictated. I sometimes think that running in straight lines playing out wide can be a bit soul destroying. I felt that Jason was okay going forward but he struggled to defend. Whereas if you play him up front, and give him a bit more freedom, he is a different player. His defensive qualities are now showing and he is playing with a lot more enthusiasm." |

Final
Match Appeal to Rovers Fans |
![]() |
The
final match at Belle Vue on Saturday will obviously be a very emotional
day for many Rovers fans. The club appreciates that fans will be hoping
to celebrate a victory against Nottingham Forest and may be over-enthusiastic
in their farewell celebrations by wishing to come on to the pitch at the
end of the match. However, it is vitally important that all fans refrain
from coming on to the pitch when the final whistle blows in the interests
of safety to all the players and officials.Everyone
will be given an opportunity to walk on the Belle Vue turf when all the
proceedings have come to an end, and we appeal to every supporter on the
day to co-operate with the club on this matter. The timetable of events
after the final whistle will be as follows:The
players will leave the pitch and re-enter to wave farewell to the terraces. Opera singer, Martin Toal will sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" with all fans on the terraces joining in and waving scarves. A short firework display will take place. There will be a symbolic switching off of the floodlights. The lights will come back on and fans may walk on to the pitch for the last time.If anyone attempts to cause any damage to the pitch or any part of the ground he or she will be ejected immediately and a ban for the Keepmoat stadium will be imposed by the club. We hope that all fans will respect the surroundings and also bear in mind that the Testimonial Match for Brian Makepeace will be taking place on the pitch within a few days, and the groundstaff will have pitch preparations to carry out.We are sure that it will be a great day at Belle Vue for all our fans and we look forward to everyone's co-operation with our requests. |

Roberts
gets all-clear |
![]() |
Rovers
defender Steve Roberts has been given the all-clear following a brain
scan, which was done after he started getting headaches upon resuming
training last week. He has missed the last few matches after a succesion
of minor head injuries. However, with the scan showing nothing untoward,
Roberts has resumed light training. he is unlikely to start games over
the Christmas period as he has missed several games lately, but boss Sean
O'Driscoll has hinted that if Graeme Lee or Adam Lockwood were to be unavailable,
he would probably select him. The postponement of the Yeovil match on Saturday has meant that James O'Connor's heel injury has now settled down, and it looks as if he may be able to play on Saturday without the pain-killing injections that have been necessary in recent games. Jason Price looks likely to miss the final Belle Vue match though, owing to a hamstring injury. The injury hasn't responded to treatment, and he has gone for an ultrasound scan. If a tear is revealed, Price will be out for several weeks. |

Micky's
long ban |
![]() |
The
FA appear to be cracking down on non-League football, and have handed
out some hefty penalties as they try to stamp out bad behaviour. UniBond promotion candidates Buxton have been hit by the bombshell that their manager, Nicky Law, has been banned from the touchline for six months, which runs from January 1st to June 30th. His assistant, Chris Marples, is to serve a six match touchline ban. Both suspensions arose from post-match exchanges between the managers and the referee after their game against Brigg Town in November. Nothing to do with the Rovers there, admittedly. But they have got off lightly compared with former Rovers striker Micky Norbury, who is currently player/assistant manager at UniBond League Division One club Goole AFC. He has received a touchline ban of SIX YEARS as a result of two accounts of foul and abusive language and threatening behaviour towards referees this season. He has the right of appeal, which would be heard by an independent chairman. Norbury said: "It is unbelievable. I am gutted as we have started buzzing recently. The referees have worded the complaint worse than how it was. I pleaded guilty to the charges even though some of the words were wrong to get it out of the way." "I could have and should have written a letter saying I was sorry but I thought I would get it over and done with. In his report at Colwyn Bay the referee said I went up and threatened to knock him out but I actually said, some would say you want knocking out after that performance." He added: "I have been sent-off more times in my career than anyone else and I have only ever appealed once as they usually end up giving you longer sentences. "I once appealed for when I got a ban for head-butting a goalkeeper. I appealed and took the goalkeeper with me to the appeal because I didn't touch him and he told them that but the ban was increased from 90 to 112 days." |

Goals
review |
![]() |
Our
review of goals scored by former Rovers players starts in League Two,
with Richie Barker scoring Mansfield's first league goal in 445 minutes
of play, although they still went down to a 2-1 defeat at Barnet. In non-league football, it was the first round of the FA Trophy; Steve Brodie scored for Stalybridge Celtic as they drew 2-2 at home to Hinckley United - the Celtic side also included ex-Rover Mark Hume. Finally we turn our attention to Scotland. In the Scottish First Division, Richard Offiong scored his seventh goal of the season in Hamilton's 2-2 home draw against St Johnstone. In the Second Division, Colin Cramb moved to the top of the division's goal-scoring chart when scoring his tenth goal of the season, which was enough for Stirling Albion to defeat Cowdenbeath 1-0, which keeps them in second place in the league table. |

Yeovil
ticket information |
| |
Doncaster
Rovers have stated that, due to yesterday's postponed match, the tickets
originally sold for the match will be exchangeable for the rearranged
game at the Keepmoat Stadium. However, they have appealed for ticket holders
not to contact them yet - details will be published in due course. However, they have stated that if you want to obtain a refund for the Yeovil ticket, you have to bring in both Yeovil and Forest tickets, as they were sold as a package. You must also bring in a receipt if you require a refund. Tickets for the Nottingham Forest match will still be on sale for the coming week - BUT they will continue only to be sold as a two-match package that includes the Yeovil match. Although not stated, we presume that, due to the larger capacity of the Keepmoat Stadium, individual tickets for the rearranged Yeovil match will be on sale in due course, that will not require the purchase of a Nottingham Forest ticket. Further clarification of all points will, no doubt, follow in due course. |

Rovers
v Yeovil |

Rovers
look likely to be without Jason Price (hamstring) and James O'Connor (heel)
for this afternoon's home game against Yeovil Town. Jonathan Forte looked
to be doubtful when he limped off during Tuesday's game against Mansfield,
but it appears he may have been suffering from cramp, rather than anything
more serious. Goalkeeper Neil Sullivan will replace Ben Smith after Leeds refused permission for him to play in Tuesday's cup match. Apart from that, we expect the starting eleven to be unchanged. Yeovil are reporting that they have no new injury worries, although they do have a number of longer term absences. Paul Terry had an operation on an anterior cruciate on Wednesday; Mark Lynch will have a knee operation next week, but both are likely to be out of action until early April. Andy Lindegaard is back in training after a long absence with a groin injury, but will not return to action until the New Year. |
