New stadium Question & Answer session
Rovers' fans have understandably got a lot of questions about the new stadium, including about ticketing, smoking, car parking, shuttle buses, bars, etc. SMC Chairman, Ian Spowart, has kindly offered to field questions from fans at a special Question and Answer session to be held in the Rovers Return next Thursday night (7 December) at 7.30 pm. Everyone is welcome, and you can ask any questions you like. However, if you have the time to let us know the questions in advance, it will help Ian prepare, which will ensure he has the full facts at his disposal if there are issues he needs to investigate. Please send any questions to me at andy.liney@virgin.net. This is a fantastic gesture by Ian, and a great opportunity to find out all the details you need to know to make your move to the new stadium that much more enjoyable and hassle free, so please do your best to attend.

O'Driscoll happy to be through
Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll spoke of his pleasure in progressing to the next round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy following Tuesday's victory over Accrington Stanley - the first meeting between the two sides since 1962. He was disappointed to have picked up two bookings, but the injury to Sean McDaid was what concerned him most.
Speaking of the sending off of Accrington's Sean Whalley, he said: "I think the sending off was fair. The lad went in with the intention to foul and whether he made contact or not, his foot was up. If it had have been one of my players I'd have expected the red card."

McDaid blow

Rovers have confirmed that they will be without defender Sean McDaid for around three months following a horrific challenge by Accrington defender Robbie Williams on Tuesday. McDaid suffered medial ligament damage and is having to have his leg heavily strapped to allow recovery.
Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll said: "He's a professional and that won't change because he is injured. But it is a big loss to the team because of his versatility and skill."

Streete stays on
Defender Theo Streete signed on for a third month on loan from Derby County yesterday. The 19-year old defender made his ninth appearance for the club in last night's victory over Accrington Stanley, and his loan extension will mean that he will remain at the club until 28th December, meaning the last match he will be available for will be the Boxing Day clash at Bradford City.

Wilson cleared to play

Former Middlesbrough midfielder Mark Wilson received international clearance yesterday afternoon, enabling him to make his debut in last night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy match. He made his second Rovers debut as a late substitute in last night's game.

Tykes powerless to stop Macca move
It has emerged that Barnsley were powerless to stop former Rovers winger Michael McIndoe moving to Wolves on loan last week. McIndoe only moved to Barnsley four months ago and has impressed since being at Oakwell, but Barnsley revealed that he had a clause in his contract allowing a transfer should he wish to join another club.
Barnsley have confirmed that they will make a profit on the transfer, which is understood to be in excess of £125,000, when it goes through in January, but they will also receive 10% of any future profit that Wolves may make if/when McIndoe moves on.
McIndoe said of the move: "I'd be a fool to turn the offer down. They are a bigger club, I'll have a better chance of getting into the Scotland squad."

Rovers 2 Accrington 0
Rovers moved into the regional semi-finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy this evening with an assured performance against an Accrington Stanley side that finished with ten men - and were lucky not to be reduced to nine when a horrendous challenge on Sean McDaid went unpunished due to the match officials not seeing the incident. Rovers opened the scoring after quarter of an hour when Paul Heffernan latched onto a ball in from the left before spinning round to fire home from six yards. The second goal came on the half-hour, with Sean Thornton fired home with a low shot. After that, on the whole, Rovers were in control, although there were a couple of periods when they had to defend determinedly to repel Accrington's attempts at reducing the deficit.
The semi-finals of the northern section now comprise Rovers, Darlington and the winners of tomorrow's games Chesterfield v Chester and Port Vale v Crewe.
The draw for the semi-finals will be made on Saturday, 2nd December.
The "Man of the Match" voting has now closed. Thank you to everyone who has taken part. The result will be announced on Thursday evening.

Rovers v Accrington Stanley team news
Rovers will make a number of changes to their line-up for this evening's Johnstone's Paint Trophy match against Accrington Stanley. Defenders James O'Connor and Steve Roberts will miss out due to injury, but Bruce Dyer, James Coppinger and Sean McDaid look likely to return after absences due to injury. Also set to return will be Ben Smith in goal, along with Paul Heffernan and Sean Thornton.
Accrington will be without Jay Harris (suspended), Rommy Boco, Andrew Tretton and Peter Cavanagh due to injury, and Adam Dugdale, who is cup-tied. David Mannix and Leam Richardson are also doubtful to play tonight. They will also be without Rikki Bains, who has just joined Leek Town on a one-month loan.
Reduced admission prices apply this evening.
November 28, 2006
Adam off as Reds crash
Adam Collin, who was at Rovers on loan for a short time a couple of seasons ago (but only featured on the bench), was sent off whilst playing for Workington Town on Saturday during their 4-2 defeat in the FA Trophy at the hands of UniBond Premier League side Gateshead. Collin now faces a one match ban, which will be served when Workington face Harrogate on December 9th.
November 28, 2006
Voting results
Adam Lockwood was the clear winner of the "Man of the match" voting for Saturday's home game against Brighton & Hove Albion, with the defender gaining a shade over half of all votes cast. With ten Rovers players receiving nominations, the leading votes were cast as follows:
1 Adam Lockwood (50.63%)
2 Mark McCammon (12.66%)
3 Jason Price (11.39%)
4 Neil Sullivan (10.13%)
Thank you to everyone who voted. The next poll will open following this evening's home game against Accrington Stanley.

Ernie's out

Former Doncaster Rovers striker Ernie Moss has resigned as manager of Belper Town after suffering their fifth defeat in six matches in the UniBond League Division One. Moss had a discussion with the chairman, with his departure described as a "mutual decision". Ernie has been manager at Boston United, Gainsborough Trinity and Leek Town, and assistant at Kettering and Boston. His long playing career took in Chesterfield, Peterborough United, Port Vale, Lincoln City, Stockport County, Scarborough, Rochdale, Doncaster Rovers and Kettering Town.

November 27, 2006
Neil for Oakwell?
Former Rovers midfielder Neil Redfearn is reported to be one of the favourites for a job, possibly that of manager, at Championship club Barnsley, along with former Rovers youth team manager Eric Winstanley. With a growing list of contenders for the job, Redfearn looks to be a popular choice to land some position at Oakwell, although his lack of managerial experience at Football League level may count against him being made manager. Redfearn is still playing, and passed the 1,000 senior games mark in his career when playing for Bradford Park Avenue earlier this month.
November 25, 2006
Rovers 1 Brighton 0
Mark McCammon scored the only goal of the game just short of the half hour mark of this afternoon's game against Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls had been impressive on their travels of late, but rarely looked like breaking through the Rovers defence. Periodic pressure may have pushed Rovers back, but Brighton failed to test debuting goalkeeper Neil Sullivan until a late rally. The goal came from a great cross in from the left by Jonathan Forte, which was headed home at the far post barely three yards from the goal-line.
Rovers could have extended the lead but for some desperate defending by the Albion players, throwing bodies in the way on occasions.
The win pushes Sean O'Driscoll's men into the top half of the table for the first time in a month, and hopefully sets things up for a successful farewell to Belle Vue.
The "Man of the Match" voting has now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part. The result will be announced on Tuesday morning.

Goals review
Former Rovers strikers Colin Cramb and Dene Shields fired Stirling Albion into the second round of the Tennent's Scottish Cup as Albion registered a comfortable 2-0 victory over East Stirling at Firs Park.
The rest of the review comes from LeagueTwo, starting at Shrewsbury, where Gregg Blundell scored for Chester City to put his side ahead after just eight minutes. Two second half goals from the Shrews consigned City to a 2-1 defeat, with Derek Asamoah, who was on trial at Rovers in the summer, winning a penalty when his shot was handled.
Ben Futcher scored one of the Peterborough goals as they ran out easy 5-2 winners at home to Torquay United, and John Doolan bagged Rochdale's second goal four minutes before half time as they softened up Rovers' FA Cup opponents next week, Mansfield Town.
Finally, Kevin McIntyre scored from the penatly spot as bottom club Macclesfield Town drew 1-1 at Stockport County. Macclesfield remain the only team in the Football League not to have won a match this season - although they did, rather surprisingly, win their FA Cup replay during the week.
November 26, 2006
Atkins to move "upstairs"
Former Doncaster Rovers defender and manager Ian Atkins, currently manager at Torquay United, is set to be named as their new Director of Football tomorrow. The Gulls are set to appoint a former Czech Republic international as their new manager, who Torquay chairman Chris Roberst is reluctant to name at the moment. Atkins is said to be "seriously considering" the offer of the Director of Football role. The only clues as to the new manager is that "He is a former Czech player of pedigree and has featured in the World Cup as well as winning many caps for his country."
November 26, 2006
Wade's next club
The greatly travelled former Rovers striker Wade Falana added yet another club to the long list last week when he scored on his debut for Beckenham Town in the Kent Football League, which moves his new club into sixth place in the table.
November 25, 2006
Rovers team news
Goalkeeper Neil Sullivan will make his Doncaster Rovers debut this afternoon, to become the fifth goalkeeper used by the club in league games this season. Sullivan signed on loan from Leeds United on Thursday after it became apparent that Jan Budtz was further away from a return to full fitness than had been anticipated.
Defender James O'Connor is a doubt after picking up an Achilles tendon injury, but better news comes with Steve Roberts having recovered from a facial injury, and James Coppinger has recovered from injury and illness.
Striker Mark McCammon will be facing a former team for the third successive game, and after being most unfortunate not to have his "goal" allowed last Saturday, the Barbados international will be out to make sure he gets his name on the score sheet today.
November 25, 2006
Brighton team news
On-loan striker Dean Bowditch is struggling to be fit for this afternoon's game at Belle Vue after suffering from a groin injury this week. the Seagulls are boosted by the return to fitness of Georges Santos, with new signing Alistair John likely to be handed a debut after arriving at the club this week on loan from Charlton Athletic. Brighton have found Yorkshire a happy hunting ground so far this season, with victories at Rotherham, Huddersfield and Bradford so far, and have won their last four away games, so are likely to be a tough test to the stuttering league form of the Rovers. A key member of the Brighton side is striker Jake Robinson, who has scored two hat-tricks in four days recently, and has already hit double figures for his goal tally.
An interesting situation arises with defender Andrew Whing, who is on loan from Coventry City. He was on three yellow cards for the season when he arrived at Brighton, and picked up a fourth in his debut for the club at Scunthorpe last month. A booking today would be his fifth of the season, earning him a one-match ban. Whing has been refused permission to play in next weekend's FA Cup tie against Stafford Rangers, so if he were to be booked today, he would be suspended for a match that he couldn't play in anyway! Not, of course, that we would suggest that a player would deliberately get himself booked!!

O'Driscoll's late bit for Gowling turned down
It has emerged from the Bournemouth press that Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll made a late bid to sign Bournemouth defender Josh Gowling on loan. However, new manager Kevin Bond refused the approach, despite Gowling not being in the team for the last couple of weeks. Bond commented: "I want to strengthen and improve us but that isn't a signal for every player in my club to head for the exit door as soon as I bring in somebody else. With all due respect, that isn't the kind of attitude I'm looking for. What I'm looking for is for somebody to say I'm going to work a bit harder because he isn't going to take my place. I just don't buy it when people think as soon as somebody else comes in, they want to go. I'll let them go when I want to, not when they want to."
With the arrival of Matthew Connolly at the club this week, and the return to fitness of Karl Broadhurst and Eddie Howe, Gowling's chances of an early return to first team action at Bournemouth look slim.
November 25, 2006
Mustafa on the move again
Former Doncaster Rovers defender Tarkan Mustafa has left Nationwide South club Thurrock to join Eastleigh as new manager Hakan Heyrettin, another former Rover, made several changes to his side, who have struggled at the bottom of the table for much of the season. Heyrettin's changes worked, with a battling 5-3 win against Fisher Athletic last weekend.
Mustafa played for Rovers on loan from Rushden & Diamonds and made five starts in the 2002/03 season when deputising for Simon Marples. Impressive displays saw Rovers offer him a full contract, but he elected to stay down south and joined Dagenham & Redbridge - playing against Rovers in the Conference Promotion Final at Stoke City's Britannia Stadium. Since then, he has gone around a number of non-league teams in the south-east.

McIndoe to Wolves!

In a suprise loan move on the loan deadline day, Michael McIndoe, who only left Belle Vue for Barnsley in the summer, has moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The move is initially on loan and described by both clubs as being with a view to a permanent move in January. McIndoe has made 20 appearances so far this season, scoring four five.

JJ wins vote

Jason Price has emerged as the clear winner of the "Man of the Match" voting for last Saturday's away game at Millwall. Price headed the list with almost half of all votes cast - with six players nominated, the leading votes were cast as follows:
1 Jason Price (47.05%)
2 Jonathan Forte (20.58%)
3 Mark McCammon (17.65%)
Thank you to everyone who took part in the voting. The next poll will open following tomorrow afternoon's home game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Supporters Game

A team of Doncaster Rovers fans will be facing their counterparts from Brighton in a "Fans United" match tomorrwo morning. Subject to numbers, the Rovers hope to field a different team in each half. The match, to be played at Cantley Park, will kick-off at around 11.15am, with each half being approximately 35 minutes per half.

November 24, 2006
Flitney can leave

Goalkeeper Ross Flitney, who spent the latter part of the 2004/05 season on loan at Doncaster Rovers as goalkeeping cover, has been told that he can leave League Two club Barnet. Flitney missed the start of the season due to injury, and though he reclaimed his place to make eight appearances, lost his place to 35-year old Lee Harrison, who was initially brought in as cover and a mentor to Flitney.
Whilst his name was circulated at the beginning of the week, his name does not appear on any lists of loan moves. With the loan deadline now having closed, he will stay at Barnet until at least January - although other clubs could loan him if they have a goalkeeping emergency.

Leaving Belle Vue in loan deadline deals
There have been several Rovers players on the move on the last day that loan transfers are allowed until the New Year.
Goalkeeper Andy Warrington has joined League Two club Bury until January 1st as he bids to regain match fitness after his long injury lay-off. Antony Griffith has joined Darlington on loan, also until January 1st, where he joins up with former Rovers boss Dave Penney.
We reported last week that Craig Nelthorpe has moved on loan to Gateshead for a one-month loan.
November 23, 2006
Arriving at Belle Vue in loan deadline deals
Rovers have moved to sign Neil Sullivan on loan until 1st January as goalkeeping cover. With Andy Warrington joining Bury to gain some match fitness, and the continuing absence of Alan Blayney and Jan Budtz, Sean O'Driscoll has signed the experienced keeper from Leeds, where he has fallen out of favour with new boss Dennis Wise. He is third in line at Elland Road, but Leeds have insisted on a 24-hour recall clause, and also prevented him from appearing for Rovers next weekend in the FA Cup.
Brian Stock has signed on for a third month on loan from Preston North End - his final month's loan will last until December 23rd - the date of the final match at Belle Vue.
November 23, 2006
Sarge to re-join Penney!
Former Rovers manager Dave Penney has moved into the loan market to strengthen his injury-hit side, with Antony Griffiths joining Darlington until January 1st. Also joining the Quakers, a little more surprisingly, is former Rovers central defender Mark Albrighton, who makes the move from Boston United until the end of the year.
The Rovers connection at Darlington may well increase further by the end of the day, with central defender David Wheater expected to sign for Penney's side from Middlesbrough.

Stadium sponsorship announced
The Stadium Management Company confirmed yesterday that they have signed a long-term sponsorship deal with Keepmoat plc, which gives it naming rights for the new stadium. Rovers' home will be known as the Keepmoat Stadium, with the first match still scheduled to be the League One fixture against Huddersfield Town on 1st January 2007.
It was also confirmed that the opening ceremony will take place on 17th December, with everyone then being given the chance to look around the stadium between 1pm and 4pm.
November 22, 2006
Forte set for the top
Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll has praised on-loan striker Jonathan Forte after seeing him claim the first of Rovers' two goals in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Millwall.
O'Driscoll said: "He has got a great left foot and has all the attributes to be a top, top player. Having players in our squad of the calibre of Forte allowed us to earn an important point."
November 22, 2006
Hynes sacked

Irish First Division title contenders Dundalk have announced that striker Peter Hynes has been sacked due to "a breach of club discipline". The former Aston Villa trainee joined the club from Dublin City two years ago and has had a regular place in the team this season. Hynes played for Rovers for a short time on loan from Aston Villa in the 2003/04 season, making five appearances.
The Dundalk club statement reads: “Dundalk Football Club have parted company with Peter Hynes , with immediate effect, following a breach of club discipline. Dundalk Football Club would like to thank Peter for all his efforts during his time in Oriel Park and wish him all the best for the future.”

Nelthorpe to Gateshead
Gateshead have confirmed that they have signed Rovers' left-winger Craig Nelthorpe on a one month loan deal. The move was completed on Monday, and he was be in the squad for their game against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday. Craig has just returned to Rovers after completing a month's loan at Kidderminster Harriers.
November 21, 2006
Wheater goes back

Centre back David Wheater, who was at Rovers on loan last season, has returned to Middlesbrough after cutting his loan period at Wolverhampton Wanderers short after making only one appearance.

November 21, 2006
Lewis to Abingdon
Mickey Lewis, who was Rovers' assistant manager earlier this season, has been appointed first team coach at Southern League Division One (South & West) club Abingdon United. Lewis has been brought in to improve Abingdon's fortunes, with their defence having conceded 13 goals in the two matches before he arrived.
His arrival at the club almost produced instant dividends - their frist match, against high-flying Swindon Supermarine, saw his charges winning 3-0 - then the floodlights went out in added time at the end of the match, leaving the referee with little alternative but to abandon the match. The league will have to determine whether the result will stand - with Abingdon so far ahead and the match so near to the end, they are unsurprisingly hoping that will be the case.
November 21, 2006
Falana released
The much-travelled former Rovers striker Wade Falana has been released by Croydon Athletic following a change of management. Falana played for Rovers for two games in the 1992/93 season, but has played for most of his career in non-league football in the south-east of England. In his career, he played most league games for Chesterfield, also in the 1992/93 - when he made four starts and one substitute appearance, without scoring a goal.

Rovers youth in home cup clash
Doncaster Rovers' youth team face Hartlepool United in the second round of the FA Youth Cup at Belle Vue on Wednesday evening (22nd November). The match kicks off at 7pm, with the winners being drawn at home to Derby County in the third round.
Admission prices for the match are £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
November 20, 2006
Goals review
There were not too many former Rovers players scoring goals at the weekend, with the only instance in the Football League being Andy Crosby, whose incredible success rate from the penalty spot for Scunthorpe continued to gave them a 1-0 victory over Northampton, and lifiting the Iron into second place in the table.
Dropping into the Conference, Dino Maamria scored for Southport in their 2-2 draw at Aldershot, and John McGrath scored a 17th minute equaliser for Tamworth, who went on to record 3-1 home win over Woking.
Finally, ex-Rover Neil Campbell scored the only goal of the game as Durham City beat Sheffield FC in the second round of the FA Vase, although the local press in Sheffield are adamant that Campbell was yards offside as he tapped the ball in from close range.
November 20, 2006

November 18, 2006
Millwall 2 Rovers 2
Rovers were pegged back twice in this afternoon's game, with Jonathan's superb opening goal on 16 minutes being cancelled out five minutes short of the break, then Jason Price's 50th minute goal being followed by another Millwall goal nine minutes later. Graeme Lee came on as a second half substitute after Steve Roberts had to go off with a head injury.
The result was Rovers' 9th draw of 18 League matches played - and they drop one place in the league table to 18th.
The "Man of the Match" voting has now closed. Thank you to everyone who has taken part; the result will be confirmed on Tuesday morning.
November 18, 2006
Millwall v Rovers team news
Graeme Lee and Sean McDaid are expected to return to the starting line-up for this afternoon's game at Millwall after recovering from injury which kept them both out of last weekend's match at Brentford. However, James Coppinger and Theo Street are rated as doubtful and we do not expect either to play.
Whilst Andy Warrington made a successful return to action in the reserves during the week, he will not be considered for today's game.
Millwall have doubts over striker Ben May and midfielder Marvin Elliott, who both picked up injuries in last week's FA Cup game against Havant & Waterlooville.
November 18, 2006
Player news
New signing Mark Wilson is unlikely to play in this afternoon's match at Millwall, as Rovers are still waiting for international cleareance, as the last club he played for was in the United States.
Midfielder Brian Stock will play the last match of the second month on loan at the club this afternoon, and Theo Streete's loan expires in a week's time.

Thieves take Neil's memento
Thieves have broken into the social club at Bradford Park Avenue's Horsfall Stadium and stolen a signed football which was presented to former Rovers midfielder Neil Redfearn on the occasion of his 1,000th senior appearance against Solihull Borough a fortnight ago. A memorial to Len Shackleton, one of Bradford's sporting legends, was also damaged in the burglarly - Shackleton played for Bradford before going on to play for Newcastle, Sunderland and England.
Bradford Park Avenue have been the vicitims of a series of incidents which are having a serious impact on the club, who are now fearful that they could be demoted from the UniBond Division One if their ground deteriorates any more.
November 17, 2006
Skipper to return tomorrow

Doncaster Rovers' skipper Graeme Lee is set to return to the side for tomorrow's away game at Millwall. Lee missed last weekend's FA Cup game with an ankle injury picked up in the home game against Leyton Orient, but has made a good recovery. Unless he experiences an adverse reaction to training yesterday, he is expected to be restored to the side for tomorrow's tricky away fixture.
Sean McDaid will also be available for selection after recovering from a foot injury that has kept him out of action for the last couple of weeks.
Striker Mark McCammon will be available on Saturday after impressing Sean O'Driscoll with his performance against Brentford. It had been thought that he would be unavailable owing to an international tournament involving Barbados, but Rovers are trying to work his availability around missing the minimum number of matches possible. McCammon played all three games of the previous stage of the Digicel Caribbean Cup, scoring four goals.
James Coppinger looks unlikely to play tomorrow, as he is receiving treatment for a knock on his ankle. He missed last Saturday's FA Cup match after feeling unwell.

November 17, 2006
Nelly returns
Doncaster Rovers winger Craig Nelthorpe has returned to Rovers after completing a month on loan at Conference side Kidderminster Harriers. He played his last game for them in last Saturday's 2-1 FA Cup defeat at Morecambe, and started five games for the club, scoring the first goal of his professional career in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round over Droylsden.

Kirkwood moves to Matlock
Former Doncaster Rovers striker Glenn Kirkwood has completed a transfer to UniBond side Matlock Town. He has missed much of this season with injury, and has only played a couple of substitute appearances recently. However, due to injuries at Matlock, Kirkwood looks set to start tomorrow's game away at newly promoted Kendal Town.
November 17, 2006
Snodin in trouble
Former Rovers assistant manager Glynn Snodin has been charged with "improper conduct" by the Football Association after being sent to the stands during Southampton's goalless draw against Hull City on 4th November. Snodin has until 24th November to respond to the charge.
