Programme Monthly Review, December 2008

DONCASTER ROVERS—Pages 68 (up 4), Size B5, Price £3 (up 50p)
Advertising pages 29 (up 4), Pages of equivalent text 12,
Visitors pages—10, substantial and innovative, plus two pages of syndicated history.
Historical content—3, a little bit brief, but two good, original articles.
Design—strong, heavy and colourful, with full use of colour
On the plus side—nice variety of features, and some good articles on current personnel. Quite a bit of imagination has been exercised in choosing new features.
Summing up—obtrusive advertising doesn’t help this otherwise worthwhile programme, which has good material and commendably small text. The policy of putting a small advert on just about every page is a throwback to former decades.
Credits—edited by Chris Mortley, printed by Colourplan, St Helens.

Programme Receives Glowing Review
Posted on: Tue 23 Dec 2008

Rovers Match Day Magazine, the official match day programme, has received a glowing review from programme collectors' magazine Programme Monthly.

Rovers' 68 page match day magazine has undergone a new look this term, with new features and more content.
Programme Monthly's January issue analyses programmes from all leagues around the country from Blackburn Rovers through to West Ham United and are complimentary to the new-look magazine.

The ten-page visitors section, which covers current and past aspects of the opponents, has been deemed as 'substantial and innovative', whilst the features of Managing to Succeed and The Great Game, which look at football's past cited as 'two good, original articles'.

The new look design also hasn't gone unnoticed, with Programme Monthly praising the 'strong, heavy and colourful, with a full use of colour'.

The review is surmised with 'a nice variety of features, with some good articles on current personnel. Quite a bit of imagination has been exercised in choosing new features.'

Many thanks from Rovers Media go to all who have helped with the match day programme this season so far, and who have contributed to create a publication which has received such a positive review from Programme Monthly.
