Mike Elwiss

Worked through the juniors before making his debut in 1971. He was then leading scorer in his first full season. Leading scorer again the following season, he was then sold to Preston for £70,000 whilst still only 19 (a record for the club). Later played for Crystal Palace after another big money move. Scorer of 100 league goals in 314 matches. Mike scored two goals on his debut, with Steve Uzelac also debuting in the same game. Married the daughter of the Preston Chairman! Now runs a dairy just outside the town.
