Gareth moved to Belle Vue from Wrexham this summer after beign surprisingly released after his testimonial year at the Racecourse Ground. After being a virtual fixture at Wrexham in his eleven years, the Rovers beat a number of league clubs for his signature, and his battling performances look to win him a first team place in Dave Penney's midfield role.
Gareth joined Wrexham on schoolboy terms, and has been a regular member of their first team since his debut in 1989. He won eight Wales under-21 caps, and one 'B' cap, and was called up to the Wales senior international squad in 1998.
After losing his place in the Rovers side in the 2002/3 season, Gareth was loaned out to Northwich Victoria for the closing stages of the campaign.
