Padi Wilson
forward
1997-1998

Signed by Ken Richardson from Plymouth and hailed as the striker that could keep us in the Football League. Somebody should have told him that ex-jailbird Padi had to stay out of prison to be able to play for Rovers as he was arrested again within two months of joining for driving whilst under a ban! A dramatic arrest on the pitch whilst playing for Droylsden happened in late 2002 after he failed to complete a Community Order for previous motoring offences.
A brief return to Belle Vue followed during his very short stay at Leigh RMI, with Wilson coming on as a second half substitute in their match at Belle Vue. Leigh's manager Steve Waywell resigned on the eve of the Belle Vue match, with Wilson following him to Hyde United a week later.
